Sim card tray inserted wrong, how do I remove it?

The sim tray on my daughter's vodafone smart v8 phone has been inserted the wrong way.
It's sitting in tight and the key won't work to remove it.
It seems completely stuck.
Can I fix this at home?

A repair shop may be the best course of action, if you force it out you may do more damage. Hopefully a repair shop will have experience in removing it without damaging the SIM tray.
