Simply - Yes or No? Google screwed up this release.

Yes. I ordered on the 27th and got nothing and have heard nothing. In hindsight if I knew it would be handled like this I would have never preordered.

When I pre order a game on Amazon I get it the day it comes out. So that's what I'm used. My bad for thinking Google would be equally efficient. And I know they never stated we'd get it on release day. Just the 2-3 week window.

I won't be pre ordering anything from Google again until I see they actually ship things out with some reasonable priority. I won't get burned again.

YES - they screwed the pooch on this one. But in the end they don't care because they will get our money anyway. I would think they actually make more profit on a Google Play order rather than a GameStop or Staples order since those retailers have to get their cut out of the sale. That makes it even more disappointing to me that some early Google Play pre-order customers are being treated so shabbily.

how can you even suggest such a thing??? its not like they are shipping new orders out first and leaving the people first in line hanging out to dry. its not like they told gamestop to pull the tablet from shelves and that those gamestop orders will not be getting them until september. [/sarcasm]

Exactly.

That's what strikes me as bizarre about the whole episode. Retailers will be buying Nexus 7s for wholesale prices and shipping by the pallet. Not only does Google Play let Google keep the retail margin, the customer pays for shipping. That's all likely to add up to $25-$30 extra, over what a sale through retail channels would net them.

Yet, they chose to prioritize retailers over Play store customers.

Yes. Don't even think this question needs to be asked.

Yes, and the email they just sent out is basically an admission of such, considering they are upgrading shipping to next-day for a massive amount of orders.

Obviously.....because you know me so well. Pleas refrain from making generalizations about people when you don't know them.

Yes.

If it was a tomdickandharryseller.com, i wouldnt have had any high expectations. Its google we are talking about. I see them as being at the same level as Amazon and Apple, and expect nothing less than what I expect from those. Yes, even with those companies, there is a defective item, or a missed delivery here and there. But not this blatant, obvious and widespread, where they seem to have no clue. Google has all kinds of freakin algorithms for search for godsakes, I cant believe they couldnt implement a simple FIFO algorithm for their preorders ;).

Yes, even after finally sending out a status email. They should have processed them in order, not having people that ordered them in June being the last to receive them. I for one will never order any hardware from Google Play again.

A resounding yes. The e-mail update was around 3 days too late. I ordered June 27th and that made no difference. I could have ordered July 10th by that e-mail update.

I went out and picked one up at Staples. They ARE allowed to sell and were in the process of setting up their display. I'll refuse the shipment.

What's even worse? Is where they changed the wording of the shipping info from "All" pre-orders will ship by Tuesday (today) to "Many" without any mandatory e-mails going out. That shipping info going out as a mandatory e-mail to every order when it changed would have really helped out the bad feelings. To me, it was a weasel move, to make that change after having a recorded message that stated "Tuesday". That recorded message was most likely what 95% of the people heard about the shipping, not refreshing the shipping "info" link.
