Simultaneous Voice/Data?

To clear up some stuff. Verizon is going to 5G and the "plan" is that in 3-5 years, disconnect the 3G network. All new phones will have 1 single antenna. Thus, you either need to be on a data/HD/VoLTE call (which since you are using data, you can just use more data for internet) or you use the antenna to make the call over the cell signal, 1x, and no data. Once we have all 5G and 4G is the "fall back" signal, there will be much less of an issue. Cell call quality is dramatically better on VoLTE. It sucks. but its the future.

Before the call drops I hear everything jus fine. I just wished they had everything well put together before it was introduced.

Hopefully they will fix the issues. I definitely hear mixed reviews when it comes to this feature. For most of my friends around me -- They have no issues. A few friends up north though (Ohio, NJ, etc.) have random dropped calls. There never seems to be a common cause since some of them have full signals but experience the drops at random times.

Yea when I was doing some troubleshooting with verizon tech, she told me it was a work in progress so hopefully they will take notice to all of the complaints and get the ball rolling a little faster.

That's true but why deal with a company who's technology restricts their ability to use their phone to the fullest potential? AT&T and Tmobile can give these users the ability to have their phone take advantage of the latest tech which allows them to make calls and browse whatever app they want during calls.

Besides, AT&T has the greatest 4G LTE coverage in all major areas.

Well att doesn't officially allow tethering on the unlimited data plan, whereas Verizon does. TMobile does allow tethering on unlimited data, but only up to 7gb. Verizon offers Unlimited tethering with the Unlimited unthrottled 4GLTE hotspot addon.

Also Verizon allows usage of a hotspot or broadband router or tablet on unlimited data. Att and tmobile do not.

With regards to coverage, my coworker has att and has no signal at my desk at work . I get typically 20-60mbps on Verizon.

Generally speaking, Verizon has the best coverage nationwide per independent testing by RootMetrics, pcmag, and others. With that said it depends on which carrier provides you the best service where you need it.

Yes. You have to have on the advanced calling to be able to do both. It does eat up more battery life having it on though. You can turn it off when you have a WiFi signal though.

If the X Pure can do that without advanced calling on then I'm really sold. I'll have to check the specs on it to see. That advanced calling eats up some battery. It sounds great but at a cost. When I'm home on a WiFi signal I turn it off.

It can't. Any new Verizon capable phone is going to be like the Note. They want to get everyone on VoLTE so they won't go back to the days of two radios where you don't need VoLTE for calls and data.

Yeah I have volte on mine with unlimited data

As far as the dropped calls go... are the dropped calls in the same area? I'm curious because I have noticed MUCH better reception since upgrading to the MXPE. I used to have a "dead zone" on the way to and from work and my call would get dropped every time I passed through there. Since upgrading, the calls don't drop. Is this a function of not having the advanced calling feature enabled, or just a better phone?

Since I talked to Verizon I have gotten a free upgrade to a Droid Turbo. That's funny cause i had just returned the phone when I saw the new Moto X Pure Edition. I do have to use the advance calling feature with Verizon. I spoke to their tech support and they helped me with a few settings and I haven't had anymore problems with dropped calls. What I have noticed with the advanced calling is that it eats up a lot more battery. Hey since I got the phone free I'm going to sit tight to see if they come up with something newer or if the Moto X Pure will be the best of the best for 2015/16. I've been with Verizon for 8 years and I've always been satisfied. I'm not really all that happy with having to have the advance calling activated just to have what I've always had in the past with simultaneous calling and data but I guess as long as it works i can deal with it.

The cases that I have custom made comes from a friend that does leather work as a hobby. I really wish Verizon offered some phone cases with a nice leather belt loop instead of that cheap plastic clip that always seems to break when you get in the car. I love Verizon and don't intend to go anywhere.

The Moto X Pure allows simultaneous voice and data without having advanced calling on from my understanding.

It doesn't. You must use Advanced Calling -- None of the newer phones (or ones coming out) allow it. Verizon is doing away with the dual radio.
