Since the Droid X's End of Life is next month...

I think it will get Gingerbread. But isn't Honeycomb a tablet OS? I think they said parts of Honeycomb would make it to phones, but that the OS itself was specifically for tablets.

I think new phones might see a watered down version of honeycomb from what I've read.

Have any of the Droids introduced before the X last July been discontinued? I seem to remember that all Droids got the Froyo update in September, but then, that was pretty close to when the android system was just taking off.

I'm wondering how long support for the X will continue after it's been discontinued... if at all.

There's been so MANY android phones introduced in the last 7 months + that it's hard to keep track. But, from what I can see, none of them surpass the X in capabilities and only a few match it. What alternatives will we have to genuinely upgrade our Droids in the future?

Well if the X came with vanilla instead of blur we would have gingerbread by now I assume. I guess Motorola is still working on the blur version for it which is still gonna suck.

the OG droid received an update a few months ago, long after it EOL. so i would expect the X to receive 2.3 at the very least

It makes sense if its the end of the phone's life because of the DX2 coming out.

The X will get GB, that's a given. Honeycomb is a tablet OS so no we wont see that on a phone anytime soon but certain features will be incorperated in upcoming updates

I've read and seen some of the new blur and it looks pretty dam good. The Droid Bionic will have this new Blur and you can see some of it in Fabs new Rom. (Apex 1.4.0)

I would think because they have announced the droid X 2 we will be able to get whatever OS that phone gets right?

I mean they will be pretty much identical phones so it shouldnt be too much work to get whatever os updates it gets onto the x. What do you guys think?

I think that the Droid X will get Gingerbread, but I think that's where it will stop. There may be a few maintenance updates after that. But I think that is all that is needed for the Droid X. By the time another Android OS update will be available, Droid X users will be eligible for a new phone (those who got it around launch day).

Before we start looking at Gibgerbread ir any other Android OS after that, there needs to be a maintenance update for the current build of Froyo as soon as possible. I'm finding a lot of bugs with the latest update.

Just picked up an X yesterday. Gingerbread would be nice. I put the ApeX ROM on. It's jsut Froyo w ADW something I coulda done without a new ROM,lol
