Since the Lollipop update I'm no longer able to attach text to pics or emoticons, why?

Since the lolipop udate im no longer able to attach text to pics or emoticons.

When i go to send a pic im prompted to pick an existing contact or a new contact..i choose existing and the pic is automatically sent, no preview, no send or cancel button, the pic just gets sent.
