Hey Folks

Just Unboxed my lovely new Black S8+ (Unlocked UK) and after watching some online reviews, had my reservations about the single speaker, but to be honest... Its not bad at all.. I dont find it cheap or even tinny sounding... Ok, so its not an HTC / 6P or iPhone 7+ sound, but its loud enough to hear it ringing in crowded places and Podcasts sound good and clear.

I dont know if its because I own the 8+ and the bigger phone body acts as a better audio echo chamber than the standard S8, but even some music sounds quite good as well.

So not bad at all.. Ide like to know how you folks feel about the speaker

I also read somewhere that, even though SS dont make a big deal about the audio in their phones... they do use Wolfson DACs in their high end devices.... or they did in the S6 and S7

Cheers

I think the speaker is fine too

It's sweet, I love the phone. The speakers sound good enough and they included the higher end Head phones with better quality. The phone is super fast and the screen is awesome. I sell cell phones and I'll always rec the S8 over the iPhones

I personally wasnt impressed with the iPhone 7 speakers at all. They didn't do anything for me. I find the S8 speaker is just as good. If I'm listening to phone speaker audio I'm not looking or expecting super quality anyway

IMO the best single speaker on any phone was either the LG G4 or the S6 Edge Plus, but as of yet, havent tried the AKGs... Im doing a full test of the phone before unsealing the phones...

I quite liked the iPhone7+ speakers sound, but i hated that awful phasing and audio L/R bouncing effect when you rotated or moved the phone...

This speaker is louder and as good as the G6 with its waterproof membrane which kills that legendary Full rounded LG sound...

Im really pleased with it... and the S8+ is amazing... keep discovering new features :)

Just wish Samsung would move their ar*e and release BIXBY voice for UK

Prior to the s8, I've only purchased phones with stereo speakers (m8, nexus 6, idol 3,idol 4s, Moto X pure) as that was always an important feature for me. The s8 isn't terrible in comparison. I can honestly say that I've been pleasantly surprised by this speaker and don't feel that I'm missing anything. The stellar camera and video experience more than make up for it a slight downgrade in speaker quality.

I feel the same exact way as well. I came from a Nexus 6P with those dual stereo speakers. Honestly, my S8 sounds just the same as my older 6P did. Wasn't expecting the S8 to sound that good.

I don't expect much from the phone speakers due to it's size even if Bose made them which would be cool if they did. If I want better quality I get high quality headphones which I own a few, I also have lower quality headphones, and I also use a Bose External Speaker as a well as a $40 speaker. So in the end there are options past the built-in speaker. Plus if you are around other people in public IMHO practice common courtesy and put on headphones so people don't have to hear what you are listening to.
