Sip Dialer Interferes With Answering Call

I set up the built in SIP Dialer so I could make outgoing calls from my Google Fi 6P using my home office VOIP line. I've noticed that when the SIP dialer is active (but not set to answer calls) if a call comes in when the screen is off incoming calls crash hangouts and I can't answer the call. If I turn off the SIP dialer (just for outgoing) everything works fine.

Any thoughts on how I can correct this? The SIP dialer is very convenient for me to make outgoing work calls when I'm not at my desk.

There are a few SIP apps in the play store - try them.

I have. I really like the built in dialer more because it doesn't use any memory and is there when I need it. Other apps seem to use memory and battery more I think. Of course I could be wrong.

The April System Security Update is what broke this. It was working just fine before that with Project Fi but now longer works. Hangouts 11 was their first attempt at fixing the problem but it does not completely resolve the issues. WiFi Project Fi calls will just ring to voicemail with a SIP account enabled. Still broken in Hangouts 12. No solution to date we are at the mercy of Google development team and this doesn't seem to be a priority. You would think if they broke something they would try to get it fixed ASAP. Nope. Keep pining Google about this issue. If someone can get it reported on a major news site then Google may do something about it.
