Sitting in midwest Best Buy back rooms as I type...why?

I just got off the phone with a friend who revealed a bit of information on a few local midwest Best Buys. It turns out that the Nexuses are just siting in the back room because of the push back from the 9th. He did not know why and he did not have a new release date. What could Samsung/Google/Verizon be waiting on that could not be resolved post-release? Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Trying for more sales of the razr and rezound... Same reason they are sitting in many vzw back rooms.

There are a ton of threads already speculating on this. Take a look around.

Sent from somewhere using something to send it.

The two plausible theories are: 1. The google wallet issue where verizon most likely is violating the net-neutrality agreement. If verizon were to release these devices and they were in violation, think how many people would have the legal right to take action against vzw. 2: That not ALL stores have received their shipments yet so they can't launch the nexus in just some stores.

Meh

I've been looking around since launch. With this today I do not understand what would hold up the release if they are just sitting there. Even allowing other phones to get some sales makes very little sense with all the hype behind this device. It just seems like a damaging move for the entire platform to keep stalling their new flagship.

This.

It is NOT because they want to sell more RAZRs/ReZounds/whateverelsepeoplethinktheywanttosell. I can't believe people after believe that.

Pick any you feel apply:

1) RAZR Sales
2) Network/4G troubles
3) Google Wallet dispute
4) Insufficient stock

I can't believe people believe it has to do with google wallet. You think they would not have discussed this at negotiations? Funny that google wallet is only on the cdma sprint nexus s, yet nobody complains about the at&t and tmo not having it....

Well, the net-neutrality agreement pertains to the 700mhz spectrum that vzw LTE utilizies. I'm not sure but does at&t also operate on this particular spectrum?

Meh

or maybe because it is that verizon has some of the worst upper management/product management/new device management in any corporation........ever. seriously, i dont carew if their where bugs or what the hell ever, this is not how you treat loyal or potential customers. they need to sweep through the departments who are responsible for their release schedules and device timelines. they need a new director of communication/PR. this release has been the epitome of corporate dumbassedness. and what is worse are the idiots that keep saying; they never announced it, so how can it be delayed. OMG, they have epicly failed! whether they announced it or not, they have failed. the method of keeping the tight lips will ultimately bite them.

I think if verizon would have came out and said, we are shooting for a so and so release and if anything comes up that that is going to change we will let you know, most people would not be upset. It is the lack of communication that people are up in arms about.

It's either because they don't have enough stock, which is HIGHLY likely, or because the Google has publicly called Verizon out over Google Wallet. You think Google is perfectly fine with their FLAGSHIP development phone not having one of the products they're trying really hard to sell? Google isn't going to give up that easily. It's plausible that Google left it up to Verizon, or moreless assumed that Verizon wasn't going to go out of their way to disable Google Wallet.

It's not because of the LTE network. That's been established by Phil and just about every other blog/android news website on the internet since Friday. And at this point, it's not because Verizon wants to sell other products. Maybe that was why it was delayed in November, but it's certainly not the reason when Verizon already sent out stock to their stores. They WANT to sell this device. Period.

Oh, and it's not software issues, that should be painfully clear after people have bought the device already and it runs flawlessly. Including the 3G/4G network.

That said, not enough stock is quite possibly the reason for the delay. We should hope so, because that's pretty easily solved.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with stock. I have called most VZW O&O's within 20 miles of my house, and only one has received a shipment.

I don't think Wallet is a problem because the AT&T and T-Mobile Nexus S don't have it, and you don't see Google whining about it.

They better hurry up, because every time I have to use my Samsung Reality, I die a little bit inside. :(

.

I could see more of a stock issue rather than the google wallet thing. That would have been discussed in initial negotiations and not passed if both sides did not agree. Plus google didnt call verizon out it was some reporter. Funny thing is google wallet is not on the at&t or tmo nexus s. If google cared that much it would be on those.

When the Nexus S launched Google Wallet wasn't even officially announced. As far as initial negotiations go, while that is true, it's also been rumored that Verizon is really the only carrier that put in a bid for the Nexus exclusivity (because the other three already got the GSII), therefore, Google might not have had was much wiggle room. Finally, Google DID call out Verizon after the reporter made the initial report. Google put all the blame on Verizon, and Verizon tried to save face (which failed epicly), and now it's highly likely Verizon is trying to save MORE face by reenabling Google Wallet. We'll soon see.

EDIT: Also, the Nexus S negotiations had been long done and underway by the time Google launched Google Wallet earlier this year. Not like Google could go back and force T-Mobile or the other carriers to allow it.

They could have added it in an ota. Plus if google doesn't care enough to add it in those I think Google blaming it all on verizon was just to get the reporters off their backs. Same with when samsung said it was up to the carriers when it launched. Everyone always wants to pass the blame on to someone else.

I doubt stock is the issue. They sold Incredibles making people wait weeks to get theirs. I know, I was one who waited.
