I know its said to be 6.4.
Will that make it wider or just longer
I have s8+. Not sure if I'm going for s10+ or waiting for note.
Was note 9 the same size as 9+?

No. The s9+ was 6.2". its longer, using more space where the button used to be.

The S10+ will be the same as the Note 9, 6.4"

My guess is the Note 10 will be the size of the S10+5G, 6.7"

I read that the same 10+ is a shade smaller than the Note 9. That's why I'm leaning towards the middle size S10. The Note 9 is becoming a bit to big for me. I'm ready for a smaller size for a change.

The S10+ is SMALLER THAN THE S8+. The S8+ was 159.5 ×73.4× 8.1mm. The S10+ is 157.6 ×74.1× 7.8mm. The Note 9 is 162.4 ×76.2×8.5mm. They both have screen sizes of 6.4 inches but different physical footprints due to different dimensions and screen-to-body ratios.

I need to see them in person to decide on which size to get.

S8+:
6.28 x 2.89 x 0.32 inches | 6.10 oz

S9+:
6.22 x 2.91 x 0.33 inches | 6.67 oz

Note 9:
6.37 x 3.01 x 0.35 inches | 7.09 oz

S10+:
6.2 x 2.92 x 0.31 inches | 6.17 oz

I'm fascinated that the S10+ is a full half ounce lighter than my S9+.

If you offset at thre flush point where the hole punch is no longer a factor for content, the display for content is smaller than the 9+ and significantly smaller than the Note 9.

The punch seems a polarizing feature that probably will not lure additional customers, and likely detract some.

Not significantly smaller.

Not significantly smaller.
.5" of a phone display seems pretty significant to me. Actually closer to .6", if my dubious measuring skills are accurate (10+ and N9). Visually seems no different than if your computer display, or TV had the same relative area of dead pixels.

Apples to apples though would be the actual surface size of the display, sans the flush point of the hole.

At a minimum, seems a good point for reviews to note (actual viewable area, sans the hole flush point)

It is not half an inch smaller. You forget that the area next to the punch is for notifications.

I'm referring to the actual display sizes. If you treat the point the hole starts as the actual view area for content and compare to the actual viewing area of the N9, the difference is about .6".

Edit. Fake news. The actual difference is .4", and more narrow viewing area. Still significant. Compare the N9 to the 10+ with the punch area turned off and you will notice.

You have to start measuring below notification area on note 9 as well to be fair. For most apps the notification area on note 9 not used either.

Measure visible display not impacted by the hole seems fair. Notification area is not visible with games and content on the N9.

Comparing the actual content visible area not hole impeded is .4" less on the 10+. Easy to measure at a store.

But you're still not right. The area directly to the left of the punch is viewable area.
