Skype Hack

I'm trying to get this ap to work again. I had it downloaded and working...made several calls with no problem. However, it was really slow adding my contacts, so i uninstalled, then tried to reinstall. Now my phone keeps rebooting while trying to install. Any suggestions?

Ok...I got it to work. did a nandroid restore. I had uninstalled the vzw skype.apk, which I'm guessing was causing it not to work. After the nandroid restore, reinstalled the hack it works fine again. Instead of uninstalling the vzw swype.apk I just froze it with titanium backup.

why are you hacking skype? Verizon you were able to make calls on 3g. What did the hack do for you?

That's my question. I have always been able to use it over 3G. In fact, don't think I have ever even tried it over WiFi.

why, are you in a poor coverage market (ie oklahoma, or former alltel)?

have a tech send out to your handset just as if it were a former alltell handset to recognize the alltell towers... worked every time i had a caller going into an alltel market with vzw handsets

(4+ yrs as a tech at vzw call center)

I think there is some confusion here. There are 3 Skype apps.

1) Skype Mobile
2) Skype
3) Skype (Unlocked)

Skype Mobile is for Verizon customers and allows VZW users to make Skype calls over 3G

Skype is for all carriers and allows users to make Skype calls over WiFi

The Skype (Unlocked) app is the "hacked" Skype app (not Skype Mobile) and will allow calls over WiFi and 3G.

This is my understanding at least.
