Sleep mode

If I go to sleep at night will my phone go into sleep mode from inactivity or do u have to manually set it up to do this ?

It'll do it on its own the moment the screen goes off. If you want any background process to also be stopped (deep sleep), then yeah, that has to be manually started if your device supports it (also, some phones support doing this automatically during certain times of the day).
