Slightly disappointed with my Gear 2 Neo

Recently I received the Gear 2 Neo as a gift. I always thought Smart Watches were cool, but never expected to have one. Anyway, upon start up the first thing I noticed was it wasn't running android, rather Tizen. Tizen is great for being user friendly but this made me upset because I couldn't install apks on my watch, one of the biggest things I was looking forward to. I mean, who wouldn't wanna play something like Pokemon on their watch?

Next was Tizen itself. There aren't a lot of customization options you can do with Tizen versus android. You can change your back ground, but you can't move apps around. This frustrates me because as of right now I have a tab dedicated to one app.

Finally, the apps. There just aren't any entertainment apps or useful apps that I would use. Some games are cool, like Pac-Man or Flappy Bird. But quality games are lackluster. JSNES is neat, but ROMs run slow.

I like my Gear 2 but it definitely feels underwhelming. Looking at videos for the Gear 1 and Live on how they run full android apps, this was indeed slightly disappointing for me

Well first off, you CAN move apps around. Secondly, I guess I don't really understand why you want games on a watch. It's a pretty small screen for something like that, don't you think? Thirdly, this is why I usually buy my own tech devices unless I specifically tell everyone what I want. I know exactly what I'm getting or not getting as the case may be. I understand why you're disappointed because you expected one thing and got another. When I bought mine, I knew exactly what I was getting and was not disappointed. About the only thing I miss from the Gear 1 (android) is my Evernote app. Fact is though, most of the reasons I got this watch are for exactly what it does - notifications, answering/making calls, the ability to send texts with S Voice and the health apps. If you still want to keep your watch, focus on those things it does because it really is a nice watch. You could go out and get yourself an Android wear watch, but it won't do half of what this one does and not look nearly as pretty doing it. :)

P.S. Did you really get a smart watch so you could play games on it? :-\

I kind of agree with clitrenta.. It's pretty hard on the eyes playing games on a 1.5 inch screen.

In fairness, Tizen is new. But since it's backed by Samsung, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more apps in the future. I was surprised to see that my bank has an app out already that lets me check my balances.

1. I can move a panel of apps, but not an app directly
2. It's for convenience when I don't want to pull out my Note 3 to play a game. It's always on your wrist. I believe that Android does a better job than Tizen in the first place because of the variety of multitasking you can do. Tizen feels limiting
3. Yeah, I know :/

Not sure what everyone is doing here. I can move individual apps between screens (there needs to be an empty spot where you're moving it) and also from the app drawer itself on my Gear. As for the games, I get that it's convenient but it can't be all that great playing on such a small screen but then I'm not much of a game player anyway except for Words with Friends. I guess the main things I use my watch for are the things it does well right out of the box. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

Yeah, I must be doing something wrong with my watch then when it comes to moving apps. Playing on a small screen is not as bad as you would think, at least for playing something that isn't intense like a platformer. I know from playing on my friends Gear Live.

Actually, if you want to replace the position of an app with another, if you drag the app over the one you want to replace, it will move it to that spot.

Maybe I wasn't placing it just right because it never seemed to do that. I'll have to try it out again. Thanks.

I tried playing some games on the watch, and I didn't really have a problem with the size of the screen. My giant fingers constantly on the screen for controls was an issue, covering 1/3 of the screen. But, the big issue is that the watch already doesn't notice my touches 100% of the time. That fine if I have to swipe or tap a couple times in the normal watch function, but that's not very fun for a game.

I'm going to have to try out that Gear Office. I'd like to see the Evernote function.
