Hi,

Has anyone been able to get SlingPlayer to run on the Nookie build running off an sdcard? Every time I try, it just flashes to landscape mode then closes without my seeing any kind of window. I see that some people have gotten it to work on a rooted stock kernel, but can't see if anyone has it working correctly on nookie.

If you do have it working, can you tell me if you did anything special to get it working?

Thanks,
-frank

How did you get it on your Nookie Froyo? I searched the market and slingbox and slingbox mobile both don't show up.

It was in the market for me. Fat lot of goodit did since it wont run. Works awesome on the rooted stock rom.

I had hoped on running the SD before trying to root the stock rom, as the SD method seems so much easier.

Thanks for the quick response.

I know its been stated, but it runs fine on my stock rooted NC. What about installing to the built in memory? There is a thread on how to do that, I don't know if that would make a difference.

I don't know if this makes a difference but I just grabbed it off my paid apps, I didn't search and download. Maybe buying it on your phone and seeing if you can install that way on the NC.

I got mine off the Market finally. Used step #2 from the tips posting on froyo nook. I did pay for mine, when I bought for my phone. I got the same result as OP.

if there is a solution, please let us know. Thanks.

Okay, from my limited testing. It looks like slingbox does not want to work with the Froyo Nookie on SD -- 5.9 or the 6.7. It works fine with the rooted stock -- 1.0.1 and 1.1.

Has anyone tried it on the Froyo Nookie installed on internal memory. I would image it doesn't work there either, but I'm just trying to confirm it.

Thanks.

Slingplayer works fine for me on Nookie Froyo on the SD card. It downloaded from the Market when I tied my Google account in--I'd already bought it for my Evo. I've found Sligplayer a bit buggy on starting overall though. I sometimes have to start and stop, reboot the phone a few times to get it to load. Not the greatest user experience but I still wouldn't like to live without it.

I would love to know how you got it to work because it is a no go for me. I just redownloaded it and I start it and it immediately crashes back to the home screen. No opening splash screen, no error message, just a crash.

The only way I have gotten it to work at all for me is on the original 1.0.1 rooted firmware that was on my device when I got it. It also failed on the 1.1 version when I upgraded, so I went back to 1.0.1. So, I just reboot into the stock ROM when I want to use slingplayer, but it sure would be sweet to get it working on froyo.

It works for me with rooted stock 1.1. I folowed the instruction to revert back to 1.0.1, updated to 1.1 and rooted with AN 3.0. Afterwards, I downloaded slingbox from the market, and it ran just as it did with 1.0.1.

I'm also curious as how anyone is able to get to work with Froyo Nookie.

P.S. As part of the rooting, I did the fix to youtube- essentially clearing out its data. I'm not sure if that made any difference.

I wish I could help you more. I'm running Nookie Froyo 0.6.7 on a Class 4 PNY card. I installed Market with an adb push using Will's instructions in his sticky. The Slingplayer downloaded from market and installed with my two Sling boxes after I entered UID and PW. Someimes I have to press the Slingplayer button twice or more to get it to launch. I'm viewing a Slingbox Classic (which is supposed not to be supported) and am on a W-Fi connection via cable modem. Sorry you're having trouble because Slingplayer is the most expensive app known to man. For the price, Sling Media should help you. Only other suggestion is re-install Nookie, market and app?

What exactly is Sling Player Classic? I thought there was only one version of SP on the market.

I am thinking about buying a Nook Color and rooting it since it is currently on sale. I purchased the Slingbox app for my Evo. Do I have to purchase the app again if I want to use it on the Nook? It seems like use of the Slingplayer is spotty on the Nook Color. Can someone either post a link to a video or a video of them using Slingbox on their Nook? Thanks!

Watching slingbox on nook color with Nookie Froyo 0.6.8

Patience is a virtue -- just keep trying to launch it. It will eventually launch. Then the trick is to get it to connect. Once it does you are good to go.

After the 1st time it launches and connects its OK -- Haven't tried to see what happens after a reboot.
