Whenever I record in super slo-mo the video is really dark. Usually I'm indoors with warm lighting. Is this only for bright outdoor settings?

Yeah it's only good with lots of lighting. This is normal as it requires the shutter to be a lot faster which doesn't allow much light in.

At 30fps, the shutter is giving 1/30" exposure per frame. Recording at 60fps, you halved the exposure time to 1/60" per frame. At full 960fps slow-mo, you're limited to 1/960" frame exposures. That means for each frame of the video, you are getting 1/32th the amount of light as normal 30fps video.

For a quick and dirty comparison, let's say you are filming inside at 30fps and have adequate light from a single bulb. To film at 960fps with a similar result, you'd need to have 32 lightbulbs (all else being equal, such as ISO and the scene).

Also natural light will be the best. LEDs would be the next solution. You will get flickering if you try to use flourescent bulbs for lighting.

LEDs would be the next solution.

That depends on the LED. They flicker as well on AC power unless they have a specially designed power supply to prevent it. Thankfully these are becoming more common, but their quality may be questionable for slow-mo video use because some of them just speed up the flicker instead of removing it.

I did record slo- mo videos in complete darkness but of fire act...and it did catch come awesome moments...it's wasn't easy to focus in complete darkness
