Slooow screen wake-up time with Froyo

I've seen the threads about the screen rotation lag, (and I have that problem too), but I haven't seen anything about this. Since I've updated to Froyo, pressing the power button doesn't turn the screen instantly on, like it did with eclair. There's a delay of at least 1.5 to 2 seconds. The same happens when the screen automatically turns back on after having the phone against my ear.

Is this a known problem and is there any way to fix it? Would installing a custom rom help? It's really annoying to be talking to someone with the screen timed out, then wanting to hang up and having to wait for the screen to turn on. I'm rooted on EC05 now.
