Slow charging

I thought the charging was a bit slow as well. Wasn't that "7 hours of usage in 15 minutes" from the 1st gen Pixel ads, not the Pixel 2 ads?

Nope! It's on the pixel 2 page. I remember hearing it during the reveal to. I wonder if this is something they could fix with a software update, or would this need a new hardware revision? They say it fast charges, and it def does not.

Wow ... I don't seem to be having that issue ... I went from 30% to 80% in about 30 mins just today.

See that's the weird thing. Someone else here has an XL i think it's a moderator, and he posted 2 screen shots of how in about 20 mins his phone went up by 30+%. I know in the same amount of time my phone would only go up 15-20% It seems some of these do fast charge and some don't.

Sheesh ... Well I'm on the regular P2... I'm gonna try this now (presently at 20%) for 30 mins and screen shot what my results are.

I'm fine with it taking a couple hours to fill it. One charge lasts me all day with some left over anyway. This battery is quite phenomenal.

I think this might just be an XL issue. I'm kind of bummed. How is a phone in 2017, charging slower than my 2015 Nexus 6P?! That's just stupid on Google's part.

Don't get me wrong here, the battery is phenomenal. I normally go 24hrs off a full charge with over 6hrs of SoT, but there is going to be that time where you want to top off and you have limited time to do so, and next thing you know your slow charging. This probably would have been an issue if Google didn't tout 7hrs of usage with 15 mins of charge.

Well I never did believe that claim of 15min equals 7hours. This charger isn't as slow as some others I've had but not fast either, just kind of medium. I'm charging about 9 to 11pm, then unplug it at 100% and go to bed about a half hour later. Last night I listened to my white noise app for one hour and woke up this morning at 99%. I'm really liking it. My old HTC 10 would be down a good 12% after a similar night easy then need a boost by 4pm.
These companies make all kinds of wild claims to sell product, grains of salt always.

Advertised as get up to 7hrs not get 7hrs. Even though it's like they're saying get 7.
I've done a few quick top up charges and the phone lasted for many hours. Haven't really done any close monitoring of it though.

I've always been concerned that frequent quick charging can adversely affect battery lifespan, so this issue actually doesn't bother me. But if Google is actually advertising it, they need to stop.

. I know it says up to 7hrs of usage with 15 mins of charge, however it would be nowhere near that with just 15 mins of charge. It's just another issue Google have to explain...

Well, they aren't claiming 7 hours of screen time, only usage. So if your phone's on empty and you need a bump to get through the rest of the day, you can get it pretty quickly.

I don't have a problem with this. As much as I love my 6P, Huawei set up the battery to live a short life. A high peak charging voltage (4.4v) paired with aggressive fast charging leads to more stress when the cell least likes it; when it's reaching saturation charge.

The Pixel 2 peaks at a more friendly 4.35v while also ramping things down sooner when approaching a full charge. So a year from now, we should see far fewer complaints from Pixel 2 owners about phones that just don't last as long on a charge.

Phone arena noticed too awhile back. See their results. I was noticing how the LG V30 gets better battery life than the Pixel XL 2, despite the Pixel's larger battery and supposedly cleaner software.

Are the phones getting warm when slow charging? Maybe it's a safety feature. I've seen some people posting that their devices are charging extremely quickly then others say it's going slowly. I personally don't care if it decreases the battery longevity. Let's be real, how many people on these forums keep devices that long lol. In my case, it'll be the person who owns the phone next's problem.

That's true about how long the average user keeps their phone (and the phone enthusiast will probably upgrade their phone even sooner). But the battery problems for the 6P were becoming relatively widespread after only about a year, which is too soon for most users.

I don't put a lot of stock into those tests. They don't match how people use their phones, and therein lies all the variability. I've seen phones give 3 hours of screen time for one person and 6 for another.

All those benchmarks show, to me, is how those phones so on those tests. I've seen phones that have absolutely horrid battery performance score extremely well... The S6 comes to mind. The 2550 mAh model was absolute dog vomit yet scored high in some of these tests
