Slow down

I ran the Quandrant test about 10 times in a row to see the effect on battery charge and found that when I got to about the 10th time the test slowed down, big time. Most of the time my One scores in the 11,800-12,600 range with most tests being just under 12,200, but when it slowed down the number was in the 5000 range with the first 8 tests being the real hitters for the slow down.

I'm pretty sure the reason is that the processor was getting hot so the system slowed things down to control the heat. I'm wondering what effect this will have for gamers. I'm not really a gamer so this issue isn't really anything I have to worry about, but if you're running an intense game I could see things slowing down after about 5-10 minutes. I also notice that the aluminum back gets pretty warm sometimes, but it also cools off pretty quick to. I actually think this is a good thing as the aluminum back should help to keep things cooler.

Worry less about benchmarks and just enjoy smooth framerates on the games you want to play. :-)

I'm not all that worried about benchmarks. I ran Quadrant several times to see what effect it had on the battery and just happened to notice the slowdown. Not much of a gamer either but figured those that are gamers might be interested.

Benchmarks are useless to judge a phone by (unless you want to see which tweaks make your phone run better). Especially if you use quadrant, it is highly biased, it groups tablets with smartphones. If you must do benchmarks my suggestion would be to use antutu.
