Greetings,

I am going to upgrade from my Note 8 to a Note 9. My Note 8 is the N950U1 model. What are the differences between the U1 & the U model? I thought U1 was factory unlocked with out any carrier branding. That is what I want. Thanks. Hopefully not to dumb of question.

Hi, the U1 firmware is the unlocked version it's still bootloader locked and doesn't have carrier splash screen or carrier bloat, it does load carrier configuration with each sim installed so some might not volte, wifi calling and it doesn't have RCS message in stock Samsung app or video calling in dialer app.

Not to deviate from the original inquiry but which firmware does have RCS messaging in the stock Samsung messages app?

I know Att and TMobile , not sure for Verizon , Sprint don't have sim card for those . I heard they do though .

The carrier firmware is Interchangeable , the Sim will dictate what mobile carrier provision get added
