Basically you need to let your phone fully die and turn off. Then plug in the charger after you see the battery icon start to fill up turn it back on. Your battery should be a percentage higher than 0. I typically see ranges from 40 - 60. It doesn't matter what custom rom your running but I would recommend having the franco kernel. I'm running liquid along with the franco kernel and my battery overnight (about 8 -10 hours) only drains 2-3% it last between 20 hrs to a full 24hr day with moderate to heavy usage, although i have stretched it to about a day and 1/2

Lol.. "moderate to heavy usage" is awfully vague and everyone defines it differently. Under heavy usage I've run a battery down in 4-6 hours... under very light usage it can easily last 2 days. Also you'd have to say whether you are on 3G, 4G, a good or bad signal area (again, this gets subjective), or wifi, how high you set brightness, approximate screen-on time, what apps you used most, etc etc etc.... point being there are just too many variables to make a comparison worthwhile.
In regards to your battery draining idea, I don't think its really needed... after you've flashed any new ROM the phone needs some time for the ROM and kernel to settle and battery to calibrate on its own... which it will do over a couple days / couple power cycles, where you don't really need to let it drain down to zero, just normal usage and letting it go low to 10-20% or whatever and then charging up is fine.

ok I've had pretty decent signal (-91db) auto brightness and 4g on all day. 3 1/2 hours of screen on time I mostly sent txts all day with not many phone calls id say about 3 or 4 (about 1 - 2 mins each) And i dont purposely drain my battery I just use it like i normally would. To test this little theory out i started purposely draining it and it worked on my phone as well as a few friends. And about the rom thing your probably right but i've been using liquid for sometime now and this little battery trick has always worked for me. but at the same time no ones phone is exactly the same but i thought i would just share some of my findings with everyone else and maybe they could try it out
The BatteryCalibration app on the market works great. It will reset the battery percentage after you flash a new ROM. Very easy to use.
I have read in many places that the battery % is reset every time you power on. I still try this stuff even if it's superstition. Certain roms will work better than others for battery life.

Yeah I know longer try to calibrate my battery.
I was always under the assumption it resets itself when getting below 10%.
But none the less I found if I didnt worry about battery stats / or try and confiqure it ,,,,it last longer lol

The whole "calibration" idea was debunked some months ago by a Google engineer.. no devs or anyone else recommends doing it anymore... so I would steer clear of doing it on your own or with an app. No you won't hurt anything, but the system stores and updates the battery stats file constantly based on usage and drainage... so wiping it (which is what that app does) just makes the job actually harder for the system to display proper battery stats.
On another note.. when you do a full wipe and flash a new ROM (as you should do every time).. the old battery stats file is cleared as well.. so there is no need at all to use any calibration app or technique afterwards. Just follow the advice I gave in my earlier post and you will be fine, and that goes doubly so if you charge to 100% and keep it plugged in while you wipe and flash.. starts you off on a nice clean slate.
yeah ive used that on previous roms. idk for some reason I feel like i didnt see a difference
