Smaller Pixel battery life vs Moto X (2013)?

I know this is kind of a long shot but has anyone with the smaller Pixel come from the original Moto X or have experience with both phones that can comment on battery life between the two. Even if I could get a consensus on if the battery life is generally better or worse than the Moto X that would be helpful. I don't want to give up my trusty Moto X but it's about time for a new phone and the Pixel looks like a really good option.

Thanks

I had the OG X and the small Pixel - battery life is much better, although there are about 2 years in between when I used them. The X was lasting me approximately a full day, 18-20 hours with 3-4 hours SOT. The small Pixel was lasting me easily 28-40 hours with 3-4 hours of SOT or 18-24 hours with 5+ hours SOT.

That's in the same ballpark of what I get on my Pixel, which is the small Pixel(aka sailfish).
I also had the OG Moto X and had similar battery/screen on time ,with that as well.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at some old battery tests for the Moto X vs the phones that were out at the time as well as the Pixel vs the phones that are out now and that completely unscientific research lead me to believe the battery life for the Pixel was probably better than the Moto X but it's nice to hear from people who have had both.

I had a 2013 Moto X, and I would have to say the battery life on the Pixel is marginally better. I used to consider the Moto X the best phone I'd ever used (compact, fast, nice added Motorola features). The Pixel is the new champ. I just wish Google could copy Active Display. They tried to do so on the latest Nexuses, but did not succeed. Now, they've pretty much given up on active display.

I came directly from the 2013 Moto X (I still consider it the pinnacle of smartphone design - the size and shape, bezels. So exceptional). Battery life on the Pixel blows it out of the water. Of course that's compared to my 3 year old Moto X and the battery has noticeably gotten worse over the years. On a typical day I would end up with 10-15% at most on the Moto, and i'm usually 30%+ on the Pixel. On heavy use days if I do need to top off the Pixel it's crazy how much faster it charges. 15 minutes top off time is more than enough.

Currently have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, been on Android since I Droid with slide out keyboard, and Moto X was the best phone I've ever had.

Active Display (along with the size) is the reason I still have this phone. I would love to have a 5" Moto Z Play but I just can't get past how big a 5.5" phone is and I would also like to have a nice camera on a phone for once so I think the Pixel is going to be my next phone.

You and i are in the same boat. Unfortunately ambient display on the Pixel right now falls far short of Moto Display. It's basically useless, but I'm confident it will be updated to work like it does on the Nexuses. Size-wise it's MUCH bigger than the OG X, but I've more or less gotten used to it. Couldn't imagine using the XL. The camera is spectacular and the phone just flies. You won't be disappointed in the upgrade (except probably Ambient Display).
