Smart Connect Pop Up

Any time I use my earphones which came with the Z3 (the ones with the remote button), Smart Connect constantly pops up to the point where I basically can't use my phone as whatever I'm doing is constantly interrupted. It doesn't happen with any other earphones but I like to use these ones as they stay in well even when I'm moving around in the gym.

Is there any way to stop Smart Connect popping up? Getting really frustrating.

It sounds like SmartConnect is customizable. The brief I just read says that Smart connect will open apps when headphones are plugged in or change sound profiles based on time and charging status... Because it keeps popping up on you causes me to ask if you have customized it and if this is it's way of getting you customize it. I'm sure there is an option for "no action" if that is what you choose but perhaps by not electing anything this is it's way of prompting you to make an allocation. My first thought was that your connection to the headphones is bad... well not bad exactly but like it sees the headphones then doesn't for an instant and then does again, causing the smartconnect to think it's a new connection, making it come on again. I suppose this could still be the case, because I'm assuming that the plug/jack is different than a standard plug/jack??? Maybe a little longer or an extra division, that gives it its functionality and it's that portion that is connecting and disconnecting. The reason I kind of dismissed this initially was because you didn't complain about interruption to your listening. You didn't mention that music skipped, songs stopped playing whenever whatever popped up, or anything like that. But hey for S and G blow out your headphone jack or carefully clean it out. Look for directions online before shoving a cotton swab down there and damaging something.

Once I figured out what to do with it, I like Smart Connect.

I mainly use my headphones for listening to the FM Radio app, so I have it setup to start the FM Radio app when I plug in my headphones (if you're currently locked out, it won't start the app until you get past the lockscreen).

You can also tell Smart Connect to mute your phone when you plug in your phone to charge at night (with a normal USB cable, not the magnetic charger) and then to turn the volume back on when you unplug in the morning.

Thanks for the advice. I tried a number of things as suggested and after trying to customise Smart Connect, my phone has decided to stop recognising the headset. I cleared the app data and it not only recognised my headset again but there was no interruption at all with pop ups... sorted!... or so I thought. It's now gone back to not recognising my remote headset and even clearing app data and uninstalling/re-installing the app I can't get it to work. I know the jack socket is fine because it recognises other headphones when they go in, I also don't think it's an issue with the headset as it was working 100% fine earlier today.

Any reason why my Xperia wouldn't recognise the Sony remote headset? Up until now it had worked fine.
