I've used my Samsung S5 & S7 smartphones as remotes for my Sony connected TV in the last 2 to 3 years with no issues at all. However, I've been unable to get my new Mate 9 to work with the tv - be it via the in-built smart controller app, or via some of the main tv remote control apps that can be found on Google Play, such as Peel Remote and Soni Smart Remote, which have both worked fine from other smartphones.
I'm confident that I'm following the setup correctly, but I'm thinking that maybe there's a bug or a setting on my Mate 9 that's blocking the remote function.
This isn't the only Mate 9/Sony TV issue I've encountered either; screen mirroring seems to work poorly, with lag and cut-out a recurring problem. My phone is only 3 days old and it updated as soon as I used it, so it should be up to date and primed for great things. I've also cleared the cache, so that shouldn't be an issue
