Smart Keyboard word "suggestions"

I dl'd Smart keyboard pro and I LOVE it with the exception of one minor annoyance. There are standard words that it INSISTS on replacing with something close but not the same thing. Example: it ALWAYS changes my "in" to "on" and "bit" to "but" (you can imagine the confusion/hilarity that ensued after a hit send too soon).

I'm trying to figure out how to get my Droid (2.1) to learn these words. I check the dictionaries and they HAVE the words in there but I'd like to set those to defaults.

Any suggestions?
