Smart Lock not working

I'm having an issue with the Smart Lock feature not working. I have the setting turned on for trusted places so it stays unlocked when I am at home. But when I go to work , I still see the message "Screen unlocked by Smart Lock" and it unlocks without asking my passcode. I checked in the settings and I only have one location saved.

Do you have any settings to actually re-lock your device? Screen time-off or power button? If not or if set to a very long period of time that you're not actually reaching, your phone might just not be locked anymore. Have you checked to see if location services are fully turned on and, if at work, does a location app like Maps show your actual location?

I have this same problem where location-based secure unlock works where it shouldn't. I was forced to disable the location-based function. Still works great with connected devices like my headset and car, but wish I could use location function.

I'm actually have the opposite problem. I have home & work listed as trusted locations and it says unlocked by smart lock but I still need to use the fingerprint sensor.

Well this is weird. I just noticed this, I haven't done anything for a few hours, then I see the phone just recognizes the new location so now it's asking for my passcode when I unlock. Why does it take so long to go into effect?
