Hi, here's my first post. I got a Samsung smartphone last November and in love it. I've just treated myself to a nexus 10 and I'm struggling with some of the differences. On my phone I love swype and have an full set of contacts and calendar events. I've spent the last few days getting to grips with the gesture keyboard on the nexus. What I can't seem to find out is how to move or, better still, sync my contacts and calendar. I am very confused about all the accounts I have - Samsung, Google, Play store and GMail. And I need help please :)

The way I keep everything on my phone and tablet synced is to log into everything on both devices with my Google account. Also, check your settings for calendar, Gmail, Play store, etc and choose the option to allow syncing.

I've spent the weekend ticking every box I can find on my phone and my tablet to enable sync. but with no luck. Do you think I may be asking something that isn't possible? I only realised today that the nexus calls it's contacts 'people' Why? It is now full of the e-mail addresses from everyone I've ever e-mailed, so I guess something has synched, but no phone numbers, no sharing info with my phone. Somebody suggested backing it all up from my phone to the PC, then trying to load it onto the Nexus. Is this a possibility?

Can I also say how good an app called SwiftKey is. I installed the free demo and used it. It is very like Swype on my Samsung phone. So I uninstalled the trial today and bought the app. It's very intuitive and supports other languages too. The only problem seems to be in landscape where it splits the keyboard in two for thumb typists, making the flow really hard work.

So, is my Google account google.com or googlemail.com and is googlemail.com the same as GMail???? I have 3 user names and passwords from before my smartphone . . .

And, I've just been on My Android Apps/Google Play (from my PC) which gives me a view of all the apps on both devices. I've noticed that neither the calendar or contacts that are on my phone show up either as a system app or an installed one. Could it be bundled with Samsung Push???

I seem to have solved some of my problems: I told my new calendar entry to save to google rather than mycalendar, I set up google calendar on my PC and reclicked everything that said sync on the PC, Nexus and phone. Entries from the Nexus to the phone haven't appeared but somehow my contacts have appeared there from my phone so I am very happy and I'm sure that last niggles will iron out tomorrow.

I can answer this one. I'll need to research the others. The Google account is gmail.com. Many apps have the option to log in with your Google account, and that would be your user@gmail.com.

Also, on a side note, I've noticed when I make changes to any settings for my gmail email, contacts and calendar, it can take several minutes for all my devices to sync. My theory is that it can take the servers awhile to notice any changes.

I'm not familiar with Samsung, but go to settings, then accounts. There you can add, delete and edit your accounts for many apps. For example, you can set your contacts to sync with Google.

In Calendar, go to settings. If you don't see your gmail address listed, tap "add account" (on my tablet and my droid it's in the upper right). There you will be able to add and sync your calendar with Google.

I hope I'm helpful. Good luck.
