Smart Switch and Updating

Hello there!
Does anyone know how to update my S6 edge using Smart Switch for Mac? I don't seem to find this anywhere...
Any help would be appreciated.

I read that Smart Switch is a replacement for KIES and that I should be able to update through it. And isn't Odin for flashing updates that are not available in my region / through my carrier yet? Correct me if I'm wrong, I know nothing about custom ROMs and so on.
