Smart Switch doesn't seem to work for backups?

Anyone had any luck with this program for backups? It says i can't use Kies 3 anymore. I downloaded it,,but it won't let me backup my stuff(contacts) keeps saying its waiting for permission from the device...yet it never comes. I see the issue on other sites when i googled it. How are you all backing up your contacts on your S7???

I've been using SmartSwitch (for PC, not the mobile app) without any problems. In fact, SmartSwitch was the only way I could transfer my WiFi passwords from my old Galaxy S4 to my new Galaxy S7 without rooting the phones. Are you using the current version of SmartSwitch for PC? Mine also states that it's waiting for permission from the device, and I have to click an acknowledgment on the phone. Once I do, it works pretty well. I use it to back up contacts, call logs, text messages, application settings, and system settings. (I also use Helium for some app settings.)

Do you not have your contacts backed up to your Gmail account?

My contacts are synced with Google. I also use the Google backup for other stuff too.

Smart switch on Windows should handle backups. The phone app is just for the transfer of content
