Smart watch for S8+

Was thinking about getting the wife a Smart watch to use with her S8+

Don't know anything about a smart watch.

What kind of battery life they have.
How far they work from your Mobile phone.
What all they do.

If they break easily, or get wet and drown.

Are they worth the money and trouble. Or do you burn out pretty fast after getting them and just spend more time on the Smart phone.

Would appreciate the replies.

I think a lot of that would depend on whether or not you get a connected smart watch or a bluetooth smart watch.

I had a Gear Fit 2 and charged mine about once a week. If you get a smart watch with more functions then you'll have to charge it more. Some co-workers of mine have connected smart watches which allows them to forward their phone number to their watch which allows them to leave their phones at home without missing calls/texts.

Why not get a watch you can do more with.

How do you talk on your watch instead of your phone.
Do they cost that much more.

I had no idea that there was a connected smartwatch vers a Bluetooth watch.

The connected smart watches have a speaker on them. My co-workers actually use a bluetooth headset so they don't look like Inspector Gadget talking to their wrist.....lol

Most smart watches are built to last. I had my Gear Fit 2 for a few years before I broke it (hit it against things too many times).

What does she want her watch to be able to do?

She leaves her desk. Don't take her phone.
She needs to know she hot a text, or missed a call , i guess.
She goes to the gym.
Listens to Pandora box music.

She might be better off with a connected smart watch. This way she can get all those notifications without needing her phone on her.

The connected smart watch will need to be put on your cell phone plan in order to get data on there.
