Not sure if this is the right spot for this but my Note 9 will be here by the end of the month. Came from the iPhone and am a big Apple Watch fan. The galaxy watch seems to be the most similar option, however I cannot being my phone in to work, and if my watch has a microphone I can’t bring that either. Been living that way with my Apple Watch since gen 0.

Options seem to be Fitbit Versa, garmins line (Fenix is too expensive, but Vivoactive is ok), Or Amazfit stratos. Or, buy the galaxy watch and something different to wear at work that hopefully can all sync to S health.

Looking for opinions from smartwatch fans, what would you do in my situation? Kind of choice overload since tip toeing outside of the walled garden.

Fossil has a nice line of smartwatches. I don't believe they have an actual mic for calls but it has a mic for Google Assistant.

I'd find a new job...not that I'm tied to my phone, but I've worked in a place like that once. And they were just too controlling with everything.

Haha, I have considered that. This isn’t just a company policy type of thing, this is government contractor confidential material type stuff.

For many companies the cell phone rules aren't just management being controlling. The company I worked for had to forbid cell phones due to contractual obligations and to remain certified to deal with confidential financial information. It sucks, but for some it's just the way it is. On the other hand, sometimes it's just a manager being a hard case.

Gear Sport might be an option for you. Its basically everything that they Galaxy Watch does minus the microphone. Looks pretty good too, just not quite as stylish as the others. Minor trade off if you ask me.

Definitely appreciate the suggestion. I wish the Gear sport didn’t have a mic, but I believe it does. It is missing the speaker. You can still talk to google assistant right?
