SMS app makes sounds when I send messages but media volume is turned off

I have a OnePlus Nord N10 5G running Android 11.

I have the media volume turned off when the headphones are not plugged in. Nevertheless some apps, notably the built-in SMS app, still make sounds.

How can I turn of ALL sounds except ringing and alarms?

Did you turn off the notification sounds?

A lot of phones combine ringtone sound with notification sound, so if your volume slider is for both of them combined, there's no system way to do that. There might be a 3rd party app that can split those volumes -- try Sound Profile.

No. But the sounds I mean are not incoming SMS but sounds made when I touch something in the SMS app or send an SMS.
