AC Question

The Stock Messaging app is the only app that will show my sent messages. I have tried textra, chomp, & handcent. All of them will show my received messages, but none of them will show messages that I have sent.

What must I do in order to get off the stock texting app on the Galaxy Note Edge?

Hi, it could be that you're not actually sending the message through the 3rd party app, but instead you are sending it through the stock app and then reading the response in the 3rd party app.

When you download a new messaging app, do you set it as the messaging default?

Hi and welcome to AC :) so, make sure you have uninstalled all messaging apps from the play store and start again. Install just one, texta for example. Open the app after you've set it as a default and send a message. Upload screen shots if the message doesn't appear in your sent items.

@the tall guy --> I just rebooted my device, and ensured everything was uninstalled except the "Messages" the Stock App. I have installed Textra, and now it will show sent messages for anything sent from Textra, but previous sent messages do not appear, only what I have received.

yes this is how a 3rd party app would work - it will only show you what you have sent through that app, not the stock app as they don't sync together.

@the tall guy -> I know previously (may have been with a diff device) - I could switch SMS apps and be able to view sent and received messages. If that is no longer the case, could I use SMS Backup And Restore, to back up my messages, set textra as the default app, then restore SMS messages and be able to see previously SENT AND RECEIVED messages?

@the tall guy --> Well after
1) Using SMS Backup & Restore to make a backup
2) Deleting All Messages
3) Restoring with SMS Backup & Restore

Now even with the stock app, I ONLY have messages I have received, I do not have ANY messages that I have sent. Which leads me to believe that this is a SYSTEM issue not an issue with any one specific app itself.

Bump. Having the same issue after switch from stock SMS app to Android Messages on my Galaxy S8. The funny thing is in some message threads one or two random sent messages do pop up.

I found a fix in the Textra support section. It had to do with having the Advanced Messages feature turned on (Advanced Messages are neither SMS or MMS, so they don't transfer to Textra). If you make the phone's app default again, you can go in and turn off Advanced Messaging, then all sent messages after that will be either SMS or MMS again.

That's for AT&T. Look in the Textra support section for T-Mobile instructions.

I tried these steps (turning off Advanced Messaging on native Note8 messaging app), then marked Textra as default messaging app. I still do not have any of my sent messages from the previous messaging app... only the received messages

I downloaded PULSE with the same issue. When migrating to PULSE only the received texts show up and none of my sent texts. Any thoughts on how to correct this? PULSE is no help other than saying it is a known issue.
