SMS is really laggy

I'm running the cyanogen 6.1 stable and yesterday my text started to delay and is really laggy. Its really annoying.

Does anyone know what's wrong or how to fix it?

You could try clearing the cache and deleting an messages you no longer need.

I never really liked the stock SMS, I have used ChompSMS (donated) Since I got my Inc, It has always ran super smooth. It actually runs better on cyanogen than it did on stock sense.

thanks you just reminded me when i change the settings to not delete old messages. i think thats the reason

Yep, when that old message queue fills up, it gets laggy.

I moved to handcent for the lock screen SMS ability, but I have also noticed it is quite a bit snappier than the stock HTC message app as well.
