SMS preview in notification bar

Is there a way to turn off the text of what the person said...coming from an HTC one x so I had that option.

I know u can with handcent SMS app and also SMS popup will allow u to turn off popup and use privacy mode so nothing pops up in notification bar

There's a "Display message notifications in status" option in the Text Messaging app's options. Did you try turning that off?

I just think it's ridiculous that I have to use a third-party app to get rid of this. I like using the stock SMS app and I don't understand why Motorola does not allow you to turn the message preview off in the privacy settings. I see absolutely no point in this feature to begin with.

Whoover, that setting turns off the notification entirely, no sound, vibration or icon in the notification bar.
