I just got the moment as a replacement for the Pam Pre. I am trying to see if I can adjust. One of the main features I am looking for is having SMS messages grouped together in the same thread for the same contact as with the Pre. Does anyone know if it is possible?

This should be standard. All of the SMS clients will to threaded style SMS which has become very popular in nearly every smartphone OS.
Please tell me what is wrong then, Is there a setting that needs to be changed.
The same contacts I used this for on the Pre were transferred over the moment as one contact but it is driving me crazy to have 13 separate text messages from the same contact in my message list.
Just a FYI: it is a notification that I get throughout the day that comes from a series of different numbers. I just have it saved all under one name for that purpose so that all of the notifications could stay in the same message

Oh, so you have like multiple numbers under the same contact?
For this, I am not positive, but it may group only by number, and not by contact because it would be very confusing in replying to a name with that many numbers.
Maybe try using Handcent SMS, and creating a group conversation with those numbers, it may help group them better for you.

Just to make sure its a clear understanding, All the messages from the name number are grouped but I am looking for all the messages from the same contact, different numbers to be grouped

I am not 100% sure it would work, because I dont have contacts set this way personally, but give Handcent SMS a shot. Its free from the marketplace
