SMS running really slow.

For some reason I have a problem with my sms. Whenever I use swype to send a msg the sms sometimes runs so slow. I cant do anything until I reboot the phone and then everything runs normal again. This is the second time I had to reboot my phone in two days. Anyone else experience this?

Oh and I tested and gmail works fine. I had killed the SMS program when Watchdog said it was eating approx. 80% of my CPU and when I returned I still experienced the same issue. The os ran slow only for sms.

Not sure if this will help, but I have to ask... how many SMS messages do you have on your device???

A lot, maybe combined between 10 people like 400 SMS msgs. I cleared them out now, I am curious how its going to work out.

With my moto droid 2 I never had to clear msgs though.

You might consider using Go SMS... they have a Lite option in the settings if the Pro version runs slowly.

I read on XDA to get Go sms as well. I am using and so far so good. Thanks for your help.

+1. I don't have a lot of SMS, and I experienced the same slowness on occasion using the stock SMS messages app. Not only do I like the GoSMS interface better, but it works great and hasn't caused any of the lockups the stock SMS did. Was easy to set up and even has a settings backup/restore option to SD card.

make sure you clear out the message data frequently, I've noticed it bogs my sms down most of the time when it builds up

go to menu ---> settings ---> applications ---> manage apps ---> all ---> messages ---> clear data

Having the same problem here. Two successive nights now, only from home. Using Handcent and I clear messages daily. Never have more than 100 in there at any one time.

Ok, I just now pulled the battery a second time for tonight and it seems like they're sending right now. But there definitely is something going on.
