sms sound does not work

I have a galaxy j7 v. The sound when receiving a text does not work. Can anyone help me with a solution to my problem?

Make sure the volume is not on mute/silent.
You can press a volume button which should drop down the ringtone volume. There should be a down arrow icon on top right corner. Tap that and a further menu should drop... Make sure notifications is turned up.
You can also go into messaging app, tap the three dots in top right corner. Tap settings... Notifications...
