Anyone else have this issue. I get SMS alerts for work and all of them come in as a separate SMS even though they are all from the same contact. I did not have this issue on my bionic and it is getting very annoying due to the fact that I have to go into batch mode to delete them. I don?t have this issue when getting an SMS from friend or family. Any help would be appreciated.

Galaxy S3, tried both GO SMS Pro, Handcent, and stock.

Hey there, i signed up for this forum to let you know you're not the only one, and also to hopefully get an answer to this, here is what i'm seeing and what I know:

I have the same problem. I am with a Fire Department. We receive our Incident Alerts by SMS messages. They come from websites. On My Galaxy S they used to all be in the same conversation. So for instance we get messages from 3 sources...so i would have 3 conversation threads going that would hold 200+ messages each, which would be all of our calls/ alerts from those 3 sources.

On my Galaxy S3 every time we get an incident it comes through as a new conversation from each source. So i could have 60 new conversations if we have a busy day. This is extremely frustrating as your constantly having to bulk delete the conversations to clean up the SMS inbox.

There's nothing on any forums for this i've seen a couple people ask this question but no answers. I went to verizon store where i got the phone and they didn't know either. He was going to post internally on the company help site and let me know. I'm a tech person and have been through all the settings and don't see where this is editable. I even tried emailing myself messages and my tests all went into the same conversation. So it's not that it's coming from a website or email address. And nothing changes in the sender info, it's the same from address every time, so they should all be in the same thread/conversation. Also i tried linking, and de-linking the contacts, using groups, not using groups, all to no avail.

Anyone know of a solution? Please help...this is frustrating. Thank You!! :)

Weird. I am not seeing that issue. (VZW G3) In my case I get system alerts. The incoming "phone number" for mine, for example, is 35842. They all come into the same thread.

What is the incoming "number" of your texts? Have you tried to take that incoming "number" and create a contact based off it? Maybe that would group them together.

i've seen the messages you're saying, but these are not that kind. The from is the same every time. but it's not a short number. it's from an address....like:

rc.205@sample.com - does not work starts a new conversation thread everytime a message comes in.

abc.xyz.20@gmail.com - this example seems to be working, the calls stay in the same thread and you can see the history of the messages received. Working as expected.

sample@example.test.com - does not work, starts a new conversation everytime.

I've tried making them individual contacts, i've tried linking them all together as one contact, all to no avail.

Please let me know other ideas, i'm open to try anything.

Dang.. ok.. I'm not sure. How is your number entered in the paging system? Is it just the phone number? If it is what happens if you have it entered like 123456789@vtext.com.

I don't know if you called Verizon if they can see if there are anything special about those messages. We actually had a paging system that sent out EMS messages instead of SMS messages. Up to that point I didn't even know EMS messages existed. I'm not saying that is what your system is doing, or that it is causing a problem, but obviously something is borked.

My number is in the system as 12345678@vtext.com i made sure of that when i set it up otherwise the messages wouldn't be delivered. I haven't called verizon, i did go to the VZW store, they weren't much help. anyone else have an idea of what might be causing this?

By the way TK, thanks for replying, i appreciate your time even though we don't have an answer. Hopefully someone out there has seen this before, or knows how to fix it.

While I don't have a resolution to this issue, THE EXACT SAME THING used to happen on my Motorola Atrix on AT&T.
