SMS vs. MMS vs. PMS.

So sometimes I get a text message and it has to be downloaded... mms.. And then opened.
And apparently it was a group Msg .. Then when I reply I get phone call or text from other recipients asking who I was.
When all I did was reply to the originators text.
Same thing for me.. I send a group text out, native text app, and if one person replies it goes to all I sent it to.
Then it gets confusing for everybody.
So... What's up with mms vs sms?
And pms is frighteningly self explanatory.

That's happened to me to. So i usually just go back to the message menu and select the person that sent it.

That is the only way I know to do it. Including the pms.

Go to settings and change outgoing message type to individual so when you send mass text messages each person will get a single text from you and everyone won't be able to reply to everyone else.

Problem with this way is how do you know WHEN you need to do it?
Some messages come in mms and aren't multiple recipients.
So to just reply would seem normal.

I think when you hit reply it puts the name of the people look in the top bar

My brother sent me one yesterday, it was a pic.
At the top it says the actual names of the people in my addy book, but others are just numbers I don't know. And, the number of recipients.
I guess it's just safe to say that if it's something you have to download, then don't reply unless you want everyone that received the same download to read it.
Case in point: this summer a friend of mine sent a pic of his gbaby to me, as a download. I downloaded and replied.
I got, I bet 10, replies back from people asking WHO IS THIS?
LOL. And one or two from people I knew, just saying hi.
And so the "WHO IS THIS?"( because it was default 'reply all' in the original message),
sent TO ME, thus got sent to the other recipients, just creating more e-chaos.
Finally, one of my buddies sent a text to all saying what happened.
So...
I changed that default setting in my phone, to reply to as individual, not group..as suggested above. Thanks.
But, who all knows to come here for that info and tip?
So, just be on the safe side and reply to original sender unless you wanna group chat hangout which essentially that would be to reply to all.
Problem with it is...
everyone apparantly doesn't KNOW they are in a group chat hangout. LOL.
