Snapchat forces my phone to shut off

Every time I try and view a Snapchat story my Pixel 2 shuts off. I've tried everything from clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling snapchat, wiping the cache partition and contacting Google. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

What's your battery level when this happens?
Have you looked at the Snapchat reviews lately? I've seen similar comments from other users.

It varies. It happened just now and I'm at 15%. But I've also been in the 90s when it's happened. It's been going on for months.

Well, if the phone starts shutting down with other apps I'd start worrying, but if it's just this one app that's an indicator that the app has problems - you should complain to the Snapchat developers.

Note that if your battery is around 15% and the phone suddenly shuts down when you're using a power hungry application (ex. Camera) you shouldn't really be surprised.

Finally, you may want to check the battery health using something like AccuBattery https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery - if you find that your battery has degraded considerably (below 80%?) you may want to consider a battery replacement.

Are there any Google authorised repair centers that can replace batteries or you've meant by contacting support and getting it replaced by Google as a defective?

I believe that UBreakiFix is an authorized repair service for Google phones.
Best to check with Google Support of course, but I don't think battery degradation is covered under warranty - it's like tires on a car: expected to wear over time, particularly based on user treatment.
