So alot of people do go without a case?

So does the thundebolt not have gorilla glass? I have heard that in the very least htc screens are still pretty tough...

I read (I believe on these forums somewhere) that they did not have gorilla glass. Not sure what they are using though. Never verified the information, so I apologize if I'm spreading false claims...but where I read it, a bunch of folks chimed in saying it was not GG.

I've never had a case dating back to my Treo...I have always had a screen protector and if this TB had gorilla glass, I would have thought about skipping that.

The TB (as well as several other HTC phones) uses Opaque Aluminum-Silicone Base glass, which is the generic term for the word "gorilla glass"

Gorilla Glass is a brand name from one company that makes said glass, but it's not yet sure if HTC uses this exact brand or not. But whether they use this particular brand of glass or not, the point remains: it has gorilla glass

My understanding is that the Platinum brand that BestBuy sells is Seidio. Just rebranding for BestBuy to make an extra buck.

Very true. It's a trade-off.

The more well protected your phone is, the less "true" experience you get from the device, its screen, etc... (let's face it, nothing feels as good as a naked screen, and the added bulk to the phone is often a negative side effect from a case)

For me, a screen protector is the perfect middle ground. But others will disagree. And I respect their opinion ;)

I'm still not sold on the case. I bought a cheap one just to see how I like it. The phone will definitely be wearing a full phantom skinz (already ordered). I'm just scared of dropping it and the screen cracking, but yes I love the phone naked. Especially considering how great the phone looks and its size.

In that case, get insurance with the phone and then let 'er run naked without much worry ;)

I've not had the best experience with phone insurance. And with the $50/100 deductibles and 6$ a month.

Are there any good insurances out there?

I think the only reason I'd put a case on my phone is to prevent the screen from breaking. And with the "Opaque" Aluminum-Silcon Base (Gorilla Glass), that's not likely to happen.

Hell, I'd drop my OG Droid just to show how resilient it is to an iPhone user. They'd stare and say "I don't know how you do that, but I know my phone would shatter if I did that." Granted, I probably won't do that to my TB, but I think there's no reason to have a case on a tough phone.

I've personally never used it, so I can't help you on this one ;)

But a simple Google search pulls up a ton of different cell insurance companies. If you're interested in going that route, there's plenty of options so research 'em out

screen protector is must for me. As for the case, i have a bunch of cases/wallet cases for my bold, and I only used them for a couple of months. I've been running with a naked phone for a while so we'll see

I only use a slim case because I get bored after awhile...need to change the color up sometimes

Never used a case with any of my phones before, and I doubt I'll start now. Especially since the Bolt is so damn big that I'll probably be struggling to fit it into my pocket even without a case adding bulk to it. I don't see the need much either, because I very rarely drop my phones and I don't usually leave them lying around.

But I will say that due to the size of the Bolt, it may be the first phone I buy and actually use a belt holder for.
