So confused

for what it's worth ...

Safe mode pretty much disables everything on the phone other than how it came out of the box (if not exactly that, something close to that). They use it in troubleshooting to see if it's possibly a third-party app that's causing the issue(s). In your case, it would appear that something you installed, or some setting(s) you changed are causing your phone to go bonkers. Hopefully you + them can identify the offender, and fix it ... otherwise, you may have to do a factory reset, then add your apps back one by one, slowly, and monitor the phone after each to see which one is all of a sudden causing your battery to drain like crazy.

Good luck, at least you know the phone's hardware is ok so far.

I uninstalled Android Central, AVG and outlook as those were three of the apps that didnt show up on my phone in safety mode. I took my phone off the charger this morning at 87% and this has been the result so far. Its like I've got a different phone. I'll be keeping an eye on it over the next week or so

Avg? ? Don't do that to your a6. Why would you need it for?

My bet is weather daemon and or just plain crappy signal strength where you are. Nothing burns through a battery like constantly trying to search for a weak cell/data signal. It's just brutal on a phone's battery.
