So, how about those speakers?

Not to hijack the thread but the soon to be released Razer phone's speakers are beasts with some seriously good bass. Anticipating a purchase but I don't think they'll be on Verizon just AT&T and T-Mobile. boooooo
Yep, I'll he purchasing the Razer in place of the Pixel 2. I'm worried about long term support but we'll see.

I'm a bit concerned reading this thread. I use the speakers four to five hours a day listening to podcasts. the Nexus 6p had loud speakers. The OG Pixel XL, has pretty good speakers. I like to put the phone in my pocket with the speakers facing up, it's plenty loud. if the pixel 2 XL doesn't have the same volume as the original, I will be severely disappointed.

One of the biggest complaints of Pixel XL owners (myself included) was the single, downward-facing speaker.

So, what do you new 2 XL owners think of the dual, forward-facing speakers? I am still playing with various equalizer settings (using PowerAmp for most of my media) but, in general, I find the 2 XL's speakers to be a huge improvement over the Pixel XL both in sound quality and volume.

Any other opinions?

HTC U11 or U11+ is for you, my friend.

For me the sound quality and volume are both quite good, and more than sufficient. That said... I did a comparison between the quality and output of the 2 XL and the Nexus 6 and was reminded of just how good the good old days were... Here's hoping next year they bring back the phenomenal sound from yesteryear.

I have found that the speakers on the 2 XL only to be marginally louder than the single, downward facing speaker of my BlackBerry KEYone. Not really a deal breaker, but I use my phone for music when I'm in the shower, with the phone sitting on the ledge just outside of the shower.

I think they are ok sometimes they sound great others times just meh. I have a otter box case and when the phone is clipped into my holster it covers the speakers and the sound just fires into my waist and I miss text messages all the time because I don't hear the notification unless is quiet in the room I'm in. To prevent this I have to clip it in with the screen out and that exposes my screen to damage. I am just dealing with it and have to just remember to check my phone more often.

I agree with the above sometimes they sound great other times just okay, I carry my phone in my pocket screen in so I'm also missing notificatios from the speakers being muffled.

I've never worried about sound on any phone when pocketed or holstered...vibrate mode works well....just a random thought...I have a lot of those🤣
