So...how are you getting on with the Nexus 6P?

Just wondering how the battery life and camera on the 6P compares to the iPhone 6S Plus. I had been an Android user dating all the back to the OG Motorola Droid back in 2009 but switched a few months ago to the 6S Plus which is my first iPhone. I had previously used the Nexus 6 and find that the 6S Plus has much better battery life and a far superior camera. If I were going to have a long day, I'd always need to have a charger for the N6 but have never needed one for the 6S Plus. Also the N6 took a long time to take pictures (HDR in particular) but my 6S Plus is way quicker, not to mention the improved quality.

All that said, I miss Android's software as I find iOS to be antiquated and pretty cumbersome to use.

I can't really speak too much to the camera but for my usage it seems to be quite good and on par with a Sammy camera so I'd assume it would be the same against the 6S Plus.

With regard to battery, this thing has been quite good. I typically charge at around 40% and I don't hit that until evening time, from around 6:15am, when I'm usually at around 2.5 to 2.75 hours of screen time. My usage consists of text, social media, forums, and some YouTube on mostly cellular.

I too started with the OG Droid and eventually moved to an iPhone when Verizon began offering the 4 and have been a switching maniac ever since.

The Nexus 6P is the 1st Android I've used in that time that has made no compromises and I could consider it the iPhone of the Android world as my experience with it has been that "it just works"

I would say battery life is comparable actually. I would charge both at the end of the day regardless. Maybe the 6S Plus was a little longer but its hard to judge without comparable stats. I mean I get 6 hrs screen time on a charge with the 6p. Total usage for the iPhone was maybe 8.5 to 9hrs. That doesn't actually do just full screen time.

As for the camera both do great shots. However i prefer the 6p camera shots. Video without ois you can notice if you don't have a pretty good steady hand with the 6p. It's not bad or anything you just to try and stay steady more.

I love the 6p and wouldn't even consider trading it for an iPhone 6S Plus and going back to iOS. The phone is too good.

Since release, I'm not so wowed by the 6P as the 6 or even the 5 or the 4.

I find the screen too narrow and get a lot of hand crap ( I'll blame the 6 for this ), the vibration is pretty limp for calls and notifications it resonances more than vibrates.

The camera seriously lacks for not having OIS and I find myself powering up the N6 for this feature.

The battery is fine lasts as long as my N6 did ( some days slightly less ) looking at 2.5 hours SoT daily mainly web surfing.

Build is amazing stills camera is much better but still NEEDS OIS !

Performance is fine but its no faster day to day than my N5 so its not really a game changer there.

I'd say its a Good solid phone but its not got the wow factor its more of an this looks great and just works.

Alot of the time I find a hunkering to get the old N6 out because its just better with the QI charging and the OIS features

I've had a bit of a chance to take some videos... the past week or so and the lack of OIS hasn't been that much of a problem. Yes, the 6P's videos aren't quite as stable as the ones from the Nexus 6 and my wife's G4, but the EIS does a pretty decent job. I am not a cameraman for National Geographic, as long as the videos are fairly stabilized, I'm fine with it. And I don't really have a problem with the 6P videos that I've taken so far.. not in the least. And the 120 and 240 video modes are pretty cool.

For stills, I'm not missing OIS... this takes excellent pictures. Now, all I had at the time to compare against was the Nexus 6 at the time, but you tell me... Here are two crops - standard mode, both at the same time... shutter was 1/60th, ISO174 for the 6 and ISO198 for the 6P and around 150%, so zoomed in a bit. Which is the 6 (with OIS) and which is the 6P (without)?

Had all the Nexus models so far and still have the Nexus 6 as my work phone and now i bought 2 Nexus 6P and moved from my iPhone 6+ as the camera finally supposed to be as good on Nexus as apple, but... in reality, not really, pictures are often unsharp and constantly dark, funny enough the auto edit in Google photos almost fixes this, but why could it not be standard settings, if its the standard setting for auto fix?
My biggest problem of changing from apple to Google (again again) was to convince family, wife and kids to give up on apple iMessage and FaceTime and damn they where right, halleluja Google Hangouts sucks big times, missed calls, calls wont end, quality is mostly poor and unstable. On top of that the Nexus 6P has its own problems, both my wife's and my new Nexus 6P has the famous microphone problem with the "confused" back side noise cancelling microphone and sound is low and useless on the receiving part (I sure hope its not a hardware failure). On top of this the video is way to much zoomed in during Hangouts in the receiving end, but the small preview video still shows correct? (this zoom failure also exist in the way better messenger app from FaceBook, (but my ADHD likes all apps to be Google only and i hope they one day will fix it, rumours say they are working on a fully new version, crossing fingers)).
However, If the microphone issue is not fixed with an update soon we have to abandon the Nexus 6P as it simply doesn't work as a serious working tool for us.
And why o why is it that Google cant figure out to position power and volume buttons intelligently, so that you can use the phone as a "real" camera now that they finally managed to get a decent camera installed, i dont know how many times i have missed a photo opportunity by powering off the phone or turning up or down the volumen. (Do these guys even sit at a production meeting and play around, simulate taking a photo, before go ahead with production? who is responsible for such silly decisions?)
Charmingly enough we also have the same Bluetooth problems like many others, I have fully given up using it in cars as it constantly disconnects.
Its funny to think how the Android fan boys would have attacked apple and "enjoyed" if they had released phones with so many problems, but it seems nobody really mentioned it anywhere besides the frustrations on the forums.
On the positive side, the phone is beautifully build (and no round back like the N6, making it impossible to lay down and work), I love all the clean Google apps (hate all the Samsung HTC spam versions), screen is amazing, most of the time the phone is fast, does restart once and a while, stutters sometimes, but i guess that's the android geek trademark. And the ultra fast finger scanner is cleverly positioned on the back, I didn't think it would be so handy, but wow its amazing, I will now insist on this feature on my future Phones.
I for sure have left appel (and WP especially) for good for the Google "walled garden" my expensive MacBook's and iMacs are gone and I enjoy the simplicity of my Chrome Books and Boxes, Chrome cast, I sold our apple watches and have just got the Huawei Google wear watch, really like the way it looks and works instead of the silly square appe watch, and Google Fit is great and its great all data is saved in the cloud compared to you know who ;)
Still the best Nexus so far and I really cross my fingers that Google soon releases an update that sorts out the microphone, Video Zoom, Bluetooth and Camera settings. Unfortunately no software update will ever move the power and volumen buttons to a more handy place, but maybe they get it fully right next time...
- already looking at ordering that Google Pixel C thing, to replace my iPad air 2 I just managed to sell, - but cant really figure out what Google wants with the Tablets, is it going to be Chrome or Android?

Just got my 6p today and getting it all set up. Coming from a note 4 it looks like I'm gonna have to go tomorrow and get a nano sim.

6p is bottom photo?

I'm completely floored that the 6P didn't come with a keyboard dock. That made it a no sale!!
Awe just kidding I needed something nobody cares about to list :P

Best android phone ever made. ====> .

Well from my very short experience so far. My note 4 camera is far superior to the 6p, especially in low light situations. Maybe that will change the more I play with it. I sure hope so. Other than that I'm liking the look and feel so far. That imprint is sweet

Yep... and the difference is pretty absolute. The detail and level of clarity is substantially increased on the 6P. In the hair, the text behind, the texture of Beaker's nose, etc. I like to use the Beaker/Calander as my little test rig when I get a phone to play with. There's a lot of subtle elements... noise, clarity and focus, color and exposure, noise reduction and sharpening, etc. :) Though, I can't turn off the lights in my office to compare low-light, if I could, you'd see an interesting result.... I've found that the 6P might not expose pictures as bright as some of the other phones, but the quality of the image is much better. You pick up more subtle highlights, colors, clarity. I've checked the G4, S6, Note 5... those three were slightly brighter, but had more noise and didn't retain the depth of detail.

Damn thing is a fine camera and I can see why some have picked it as the best, and most of the others only have it slightly behind a select few. I only wish that it had the G4's camera app... :)

This Bluetooth issue with my Infotainment in my Nissan is getting annoying.

4..... And WHY does it insist on a password when the phone is first started, when it has fingerprint recognition?

That may be a setting. For example, if you have a pattern lock check this setting : Settings>Security>Screen lock>Pattern>Require pattern to start device.

Don't see it. But it's an added security layer. There must be a reason for it. I can't for the life of me figure it out, but it's there by design.

Besides, why would someone restart their phone often enough for this to be annoying? 😀
