Current Nexus 5 User looking to pick between the iphone6 or galaxy s5. For those of you who have it I have some questions:

-BATTERY LIFE!!!!!! How is it so far?
-For thosw of you who have whatsapp - are you able to customize the led icon and turn it to yellow or blue depending>?
-Is it worth it for me to go to the galaxy s5? I really need a better battery.

Battery life is great. I only need to recharge my device once every 1-2 days. I have whatsapp and yes you can change the led notification color

You can compare a iPhone 6 with a Motorola phone of 2012..

I really would recommend the S5, its all up to date with a fast processor, great battery life and lots of diff. Tools!

Battery life is about a day with normal use, but no more. Needs charged daily.

I've had mine for about 2.5-3 months now. Some of the concerns that I had about the S5 when I bought it are starting to happen. It's beginning to lag and skip around. This was my biggest concern. It isn't working as cleanly as it did when I bought it, and it's only a few months old.

All the iphones I've had didn't lag or slow down until closer to the 2 year mark. Even at that point, they didn't do some of the things my S5 is doing.

I'm starting to wish I would have just stuck with the apple product, but I wanted to try something different this time.

It really worries me how this thing is going to perform after a year, let alone 2.

Shouldn't be lagging like that. Have tried clearing the cache?

Have you tried different launcher? I have never experienced that kind of lag. Slow hiccups yes, especially while downloading many apps at once but never freeze

Good recommendation. Yes, I have tried that. It does seem to help, but my S5 still isn't as smooth as it was when new. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect perfection. Im just use to the iphone that was crisp and fast right up to the end.

Forgive me, but are you referring to web browser launchers? I'm still fairly unfamiliar with the android. If so, I've only used what comes on the S5.

Mine doesnt freeze, more so it will jump around and skip. Sometimes when typing, or pushing the lower right soft key. Surfing the interwebs or just playing with the phone.

I felt like u kind of. Felt the lag apps crashing more frequent had it since april 11 day it came out where im at. Scratches head.. I rooted it deleted sum bloatware seriously the phone works better than ever all smiles again and and im still in love with the screen. Only phone im interested in is a note or nexus strictly for size. Never lost faith in my s5 love the phone. And ive been an apple user for years will never buy an apple phone again too many limitations and definetly not as durable. Drop it itz destroyed. Dropped my s5 more than I can count still looks good and works fine

The battery life is average. If you're a heavy user you'll need to charge during the day but depending on your carrier it may be more efficient. I'm not sure if another phone offers better battery life than the S5 though other than the Verizon exclusive Motorola Droid Turbo which I traded in my S5 for. You will get around 4 and a half hours screen on time with an S5.

Not sure if any of this matters to you but:

1.) Touchwiz is horrible when compared to a more stock experience. The lag is bad and Samsung phones #1 battery sucker is generally Android System. It beats out display and tall time from my experience. In comparison, S5 used 28% on average for Android System compared to Motorola which sits at about 8%.

2.) The build quality is poor. The phone feels great as long as you remove the battery cover but once you put that on its the most creaky phone I've ever held. I have had it replaced and even replace battery covers and it didn't solve a thing. Not everyone worries about this but I'm annoyed easily by poor craftsmanship.

I don't want to come off as a hater. I could live with it if the build wasn't so poor. Touchwiz may be laggy but it wasn't the biggest deal breaker. Average/poor battery due to Touchwiz and horrible build killed it for me so much that I paid $650 for a Turbo.

On a full charge I can go 2 days, lot of phone/email and even GPS.

1. The Battery life is the only thing that I hate in my Galaxy S5, before I bought it I watched like 100 reviews, all of which said it has a great battery life with a day and a half of moderate use. I don't know what "moderate use" is but if you have WiFi / 4G / Bluetooth / Location / Sync on all the time you won't get a full day ,,,, even if the phone is in your pocket most of the time. and if you used the S-View cover it will drain even faster!
but it's removable so you could have two.

2. TouchWiz isn't as bad as everyone making it look, actually I like it and once you disable MyMagazine and reduce the Animation scale you won't se any lags.

3. about the LED color with whatsapp you can change the color from the app itself, but there are some 3'rd party apps that allows you to choose different color for each app. (including the missed calls and sms, calender, email, messenger ,,,,, etc)

I like the S5, and I recommend buying it despite what I said about the Battery :)

Do not I repeat do not get this piece of ****. Worst phone ever. Get an iPhone of a m8.

I have a couple friends who have the S5 as well and with their typically light usage, they get 2-3 days before having to charge. I charge more or less daily, but i can usually leave it unplugged overnight and plug it in while I'm having my coffee and what not each morning. Bluetooth is only on when I'm streaming pandora in my car, otherwise it's typically off so I know that helps battery life a little.

I came from Apple so the upgrade in many ways was great. I can't really think of anything negative I loss other than having to buy an ipod so I can have a dedicated music player for working out and what not. But coming from another Android phone, I would assume if you're after battery life it's a solid choice. Or even the Note 4 if you don't mind the size.

iPhone models were definitely faster with each generation on the new OS's and that stands true for the 6, but each newer iOS was always slower the older each model became. My iPhone was never "slow" per say, well to an extent at least. But the animation speeds and parralax effect etc made things seem much slower than they really were for sure.

I have the same problem with it lagging when trying, quitting an app, touching the soft keys and playing music! Let me know if you find a fix please..I haven't found one yet

I have to say, I don't think android is as consistent as iOS. So if that's all you care about, you may as well go back to Apple.
But android and the S5 offer so much more than that. Just look at that screen! Still one of the best out there.
And the benefits of being able to share almost anything to anyone. Drag and drop files?
I couldn't go back to an iPhone now, although you'll have to tear my MacBook out of my cold, dead hands...

I have two galaxy S5 one for work and the other my own personal. To me the phone is not that bad at all.. I thought about upgrading to the note 4 but I will wait and see what else might come. But I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good overall phone. I use touchwiz and I don't have any hiccups on this phone.

Have you used an HTC or Motorola device lately? I'm only asking because I'm curious as to why you don't notice any lag created by Touchwiz. Of course someone not using other brands would not notice it at much but lag is a known issue with all Touchwiz phones. Its even mentioned to be bloated with a heavy UI by sites such as Android Central.

With that said, I'm in no way saying you can't enjoy the S5. I could live happily with Touchwiz if needed but I know there's quicker and less bogged down versions of Android out there. :)

Well yes actually I did have the m8 and I traded it for the s5 because I could not get any signal with the m8 due to it being all metal. I also had Motorola the first Droid phone.
