So I finally got a tablet

I just placed an order for the new updated Avatar tablet on Newegg. The Avatar Sirius S702-R1B-2 Tablet ARM Cortex-A9 1.50GHz 7" 1GB DDR3 Memory 8GB. I have an iPad Mini which I love, but I previously owned a Nexus 7 & am missing some things from Android. I'll post my thoughts on this tablet after I get it. Hopefully it's not too bad for only being $99.

Hi everybody
I've been lurking for a few days since I purchased an Avatar Sirius 7" Android 4.1 tablet from Newegg. I'm usually an early adopter but I really had no need for a small device until recently. I am allergic to cell phones because I value my down time and my laptop worked just fine for all the rest of my mobile connectivity. However, my brother purchased a Kindle Fire for my mother last year and, as the family technogeek, I purchased and installed the wireless router so that she could use it around the house.

I was intrigued with the portability and the utility with most of the non-business reasons I was lugging a laptop around for like an e-reader, time-passers like Angry Birds, Netflix, store and restaurant finder, etc. I still need the lappie for business travel so I have access to office connected Microsoft Office and other tools that require the large screen and keyboard. For the rest of the time, chilling on the deck, feet up under the trailer canopy in the woods, riding shotgun on roadtrips, this new tablet is ace!

This forum seems to be plumb full of great tips and advice for Android users so I signed up.

Hi Icy

I hope you've been enjoying you Sirius. I just wanted to add my findings of the tablet.

I've bought a number of "inexpensive tablets" for a while and usually have spent more time rooting and tweaking them than really using them. I was always seeing if I could find something that actually worked pretty well for little money. I've also owned a Nexus 7, its screen is broken. I do recommend them too but just disappointed of how easily the screen broke.

Before I bought the S701-R2A-1 for my wife I was really surprised on the amazing reviews of the tablet. It was $65 from Neweggflash. I've found it to be a very impressive and quick acting tablet and able to play some fun games of Despicable me 2 and Turbo (the snail movie) and overall it performed pretty well.

I was actually pretty jealous of her little tablet for working so well from the get go. I had gotten an ASUS TF300T not long before I bought hers, and I was really disappointed by how slow mine was in comparison. Mine was sent under to warranty to ASUS for them to fix it and we shared hers in the mean time.

Small storage but has expansion slot. Light build with virtually no bloatware. I definitely recommend it and almost wish I waited a few weeks for the new version to come on sale for the same price!

Also the HDMI out works pretty good too. Hooked up to my 47" and netflix looked pretty good.

Is anyone having trouble turning on the avatar sirius --8in--tablets, i have had mine two months, very hard too turn on then hold the tablet screen, screen keeps blanking off,any clues too what the problem mite be??????
