So I just sent Verizon a nasty email. And you should too.

So I finally broke down and sent an email to Verizon, and if you feel the same you should to. Those of us who care about this and understand the importance of timely updates should have a dog in this fight. We pay for service to and we should be represented. Here is what I sent:

I am posting today cause I'm have grown very frustrated with the delay of the 4.1 update on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I understand your network and company like to do testing on all updates before release but this has gotten to the point I am tempted to cancel my contract.

And I feel justified in saying that. I look online and there are tons of place that have working custom made version of the 4.1 update for my phone. I would like to know how some kid in his basement can get a 4.1 update working properly in two weeks after Google releases it but here we are towards the end of September and still not even a little transparency on where the update is. Nothing but silence from you. And quite frankly that's horrible customer service.

Now I know a lot of your customers are not tech friendly but I bought this phone on the understanding it has timely updates. I feel I bought a lemon. Don't get me wrong, I love the phone. The only disappointing thing about it is I have to rely on Verizon for the update. Verizon was the first US carrier to get the Nexus followed by Sprint and sprint now has the update, I do not. This is unacceptable.

What boggles my mind is that you allow Apple to control the updates on the iPhone, but not Google on the Nexus? I am sure there is some logic behind this but to me this is like an ISP telling me I can't receive a new Windows update on my dell computer, Can you imagine? Believe it or not, more and more people are becoming aware of this, and if you don't work to address this, people are gonna leave for better luck on GSM networks that allow Google to update the phone directly.

I have been a long time supporter of Verizon but you have taken a sharp turn in my satisfaction the last couple years. If there is no update by mid October, I will be ending my contract with you and I will refuse to pay any type of ETF as I feel you have not lived up to the service promised in my contract. Stop sitting on your hands Verizon.

Edit: Changed my post around a bit. Sounded way more tired than I thought. /endrant.

AHEM.

1. I am not a kid in a basement.
2. I had 4.1 on my phone within 24 hours of it being announced. Not two weeks after it being released.

Thank you.

Maybe it worked, because the update is rolling out as we speak :).

I think you made Verizon feel bad, because now the update is rolling out. Good job. You showed them the errors of their ways.

No. I am the one responsible for its rolling out. I am very powerful. I got tired of waiting and unlocked, rooted and rom'd this past week. That's what caused the update. I can also make it rain by washing my car or make the sun come out by carrying an umbrella. I have turned nature's animosity towards me into a powerful weapon. You would have had the OTA update 3 months ago if I had gone ahead and custom rom'd back then. I delayed just to prolong your suffering.
