So if the laser stops working , LG G3 camera useless?

I don't think its that type of laser. Just like if you try and take a picture of a plain, it won't blind them. It's just for quick focusing.

I think the IR laser is for close subjects only. If reflected from a distant subject, the beam would surely be so scattered that the device would just register a null result, and assume a distant focus setting.
Because IR, it would be invisible and therefore harmless to pilots of aircraft.
