I'm on Verizon and I have the Droid 1. Love it but have had some quirks with it. As well as I would like a phone with more memory so I can really use it as my mp3 player. And I would love a larger screen to read books on.
So having said all that. I was seriously considering the Droid X when I heard about the Droid Pro (even though I know it all rumors at this time). The Pro sounds better and I would be happy to wait for it, but is it only rumor or is it really going to be released (and what will the specs be??!!). Then I know the Samsung Fascinate is coming next week. But it's only 4" screen and 2GB memory. And not sure I want to leave the Motorola line as they have been so good to leave them unlocked and to send updates so regularly. I don't root or anything, although I would like that options should I choose it sometime down the road. Then I heard about the HTC android phone coming. Not interested in the IPhone. Love Android OS too much.
Sorry I will get to the point. I know there will always be a better phone coming around the bend but as far as anything coming out before 2011, what is your opinion on the best Android phone?
Samsung sounds nice but I am not so sure about a Samsung. Just would love opinions. I have read for weeks and weeks now. Trying to figure out which is best for me. So I thought I would see what everyone else is thinking of getting.
Thanks for your help.

It's all about personal preference, but I think the X is the most solid device Verizon is selling right now, and will continue to be so for some time out. Based on your requirements, I would think you would like the larger screen of the X, although it doesn't fit any more information on the screen than the smaller phones due to it having the same resolution.

the x is a great device big screen and great specs the droid 2 is also pretty darn good just missing the mp's and hdmi I want the incredible hd that's right up my alley. The droid pro is the droid 2 with a gsm radio thrown in the mix. The fascinate well get that of you love to play games on your phone.

I think the droid X is a really good phone, but for me its just to big. And i dislike the junk in the trunk bubble on the back of the phone. But i would have to agree probally the most capable droid phone on the market right now. Its kind of funny to me because .300 isnt that much bigger than the phone iam looking at, but it just feels like your holding a mirror from a truck. LOL

I'm a (new) fan of the HTC Incredible.

It's fast and very responsive - way smoother than my original Moto Droid ever was with any ROM. And personally the 4.3" screen phones are too big for me. I prefer smaller, slimmer phones. I have an iPad for when I need something with a larger screen to web browse on.

Besides, the HTC Incredible and the HTC Evo, not counting the WiMax support, are otherwise functionally identical. And with the Android 2.2 update, it's very competitive with the Droid X speed-wise.

So as far as I'm concerned, even with all the current choices, the Incredible is still the best Android choice out there.

In my opinion, those on T-mobile or AT&T cant go wrong with the Nexus 1 if you can find one and if your number 1 priority is getting the latest updates first. Otherwise the Vibrant and Captivate are totally and completely awesome. Sprint and Verizon theres no telling as they're sucking in the latest handsets like black holes.

Thak you for your responses

If people still want to give their opinion that would be great. PhxBlue, thank you so much for your response but I'm on Verizon so it has to be a Verizon phone.
I'm now considering possibly getting the Sammy Fascinate and trying it out. Can always return and go back to the D1 if I don't like it or if they don't fix the GPS soon.
My other thought is to wait for the HTC that is suppose to come out with the 4.3 screen. Sounds like the Dinc is getting rave reviews so I can imagine the next one will be just as good if not better. And I love the fact that I hear it will be a 4.3" screen. But I don't like the fact that some are saying it maybe the first of the year. Really didn't want to wait that long but it will be here before you know it. Then again by the end of the year the Droid X should be lower in price and/or bogo. I'm not opposed to Droid X as I love my Droid just want a bigger screen and a larger GB to make it a mp3 player.
Thanks again and thanks for taking the poll and all your posts. It does really help make my decision a little easier.

I spent upwards of an hour or so the other day playing with the Droid 2 and X side by side. The Droid X is big but didn't seem too big to me, i do have big hands though. The screen was nice and bright and clear. The software on the X seemed to flow pretty smooth most of the time without too many hangups or freezes. It registered finger swipes and other inputs pretty quickly too. The processor seemed fast going in and out of apps and processing data on web pages. The camera on the other hand i wasn't too impressed with. Pics seemed a touch fuzzy especially up close i couldn't get a clear pic to save my life, despite that though i was impressed with the X.

The Droid 2 was a disappointment. Slow and sluggish was my immediate impression. It would hesitate every time I would give it input. It did not register finger swipes right away either. My finger would be half way across the screen before it would respond. Then theres the issue thats going around the web regarding signal performance, i dont know whats going on there but that would be a major turn off to me. I loved the original Droid but the Droid 2 i would avoid.

If you are in the game of waiting then I would wait for the HTC device. Its my opinion that HTC builds great hardware. I happen to also be of the opinion, due to my experiences with owning devices from both companies, that they use superior touch screens in their devices as compared to what Motorola uses . Their software has a great level of refinement and integrates very well into the Android os. Whether or not you like the Sense ui is another story. They also seem committed to getting Android updates out to their Sense devices as quickly as possible which is a huge plus in my book.

Thank you PhxBlue. That was very nice of you to take the time to share your opinion with me. Yea, if I bought a phone right now it would be the X but now I'm a little intrigued by the Samsung Fascinate but really intrigued by the HTC coming out. I just am an impatient person. I get so excited about my gadgets, to my husband's dismay! LOL! But I can't afford to buy everything so that is why I put so much research to hope to find the best thing that will make me happy the longest.
Anyway, thanks again for sharing your experiences with me. Please keep posting if you would like.
Take care.

I didn't even think about the Fascinate. If the Fascinate is anything like the Vibrant then i can tell you with the utmost confidence that it is awesome. I actually bought the Vibrant and owned it for about two weeks, i ended up returning it tho because it doesn't have a flash for the camera which i absolutely love. The screen that Samsung uses is absolutely amazing, its totally stunning to look at and makes colorful wallpapers really pop. I could do without their Touchwiz ui but fortunately you can download a home replacement app from the market to make Touchwiz virtually disappear. The performance is incredible as well, the phone really flies with its hummingbird processor and graphics gpu. I happen to also own an iPhone 4 (yes im a gadget geek) and the Vibrant was faster than the iPhone in almost every aspect. It really is a great phone and fortunately Verizon's version comes with a camera flash. If i had to choose right this second i would go with the Fascinate barring that Verizon has not messed it up somehow. But if you're willing to wait I would still say to wait for that HTC device. I have a feeling its going to be superb.

I got N1 and I'm headache-free. Won't be in the market for another phone until at least 2 years from now, maybe even 3.

Yep, the N1 is that good imho.

Yeah N1 is king in my opinion too. Its too bad you cant get it without scouring ebay or Craigs etc..
