I did also read what you are talking about HERE. I know the website isn't exactly known for reliable info but a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day. haha

This could potentially be true, but in sure they could always get another company to manufacture it? Just like Apple did with their A9 Chips.

I don't think they can depend on the v30 to turn their profit margins around. They need the G6 to be successful.

Saw that too....some LG execs said it doesn't matter that the G6 would ship with the 835 or 821 as most people wouldn't notice the difference.......
I guess we all know why their sales are tanking...... Their execs are kinda out of tune with the smartphone buying public.
The g6 looks promising...but it will be a road bump to the Galaxy S8 unless it has some killer spec or feature to make people buy it.

Most people don't pay that close attention to which chips are in these phones. If you're an average Joe walking into a phone store, it's gonna be price, size, screen and user experience. Sliding through home screens, accessing apps and various UX skins on Android are what people see. There's not going to be ANY difference between an 835 and an 821 when the customer picks up the display unit or even when they take their new phone out of the box.

When phones came with 820, people were happy, latest and greatest. 821 is released and the 820 is a dog. Now the same occurs with the yet to be released 835. Any of these devices could easily last a few years. They're fast enough.

No one is happy with what they have. I mean, just a few months ago everyone is letting out a battle cry to get marshmallow on their phones. They have it and now the same people are asking where's Nouget? "I'm leaving (enter carrier here) if they don't release Nouget by next month" I couldn't tell you the difference I've experienced between lollipop, marshmallow and Nouget. It's honestly all the same for me. Don't get me wrong there are certain features super hardcore users will use that I don't, but jeez, can't we be content with what we have as far as specs?

The biggest difference is marketing. Both will support Android 8.0 without Qualcomm having to patch anything up. If they told people that it was an 835 inside you would never notice the difference. There is usually nothing ground breaking from one release to 1 or 2 generations later.

Nope we can't lol. You can, but the collective we that is the tech community as a whole will probably always want the latest and greatest. I know for me, I already have an S7 edge, so that's like a 700 dollar device. It has the 820. Don't really consider the 821 an upgrade so I'm not spending another 6-700 to "upgrade" to a device with that processor. You can argue that the device isn't marketed to me, which is true. But I'm still gonna upgrade this year, and because of an old processor (I know most will say it's not old) LG has no shot at getting my money.

So innovation should stop because we should all just be content with what we have? If that was the case we wouldn't have these mini computers in our hands that we sometimes make phone calls on.

If the SoC was just the processor, then yeah, from a speed perspective it's probably fast enough. But the SoC is much more than that. It's also the GPU, modem, Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth module, NFC, GPS, etc, etc. All of those get improved and then implemented into the newest SoC.

Quick Charging 4.0 in the 835 is faster, more efficient and runs cooler than 3.0 in the 821. Charging speed matters to millions of people.

We may be talking about a phone but the advances are more like PC's.
