Upgrade is May 22nd and this was my 1st choice to get. But with recent talk about battery, I'm very scared to get this and think maybe I should wait for the Bionic or something... (I'm on Verizon)

man, im considering taking mine back now.
4 hours and 42 minutes, 3g on, barely any use and it died. :(

I honestly have not gotten the insane battery issues that everyone has been having.

However, the battery IS on the short side. I remember this being the case when the Storm was first released and BB had to do an OTA update to fix it... maybe the same will happen here.

Also, there is the extended battery option offered in Verizon stores. It adds a little bulk to the phone, but I personally think its worth it given all the things the phone CAN do.

Yeah I don't know if I've just lucked out or what, but so far I have had absolutely NONE of the issues that people have been complaining about. Now I myself do notice that the battery is probably a little short, but I was well aware beforehand that I wasn't going to get the same battery life as my Storm and as the above poster stated, I remember when I first got it, the battery life on it was pretty awful.

So if you still want this phone by May, more than likely the battery life will probably have gotten better.

I think a lot of people leave GPS on and screen at full brightness, which will stomp the battery. I unplugged my phone from the charger at 7am today, have been using it for emails, occasional navigating at lunch ( to test it more than anything ), a couple of phone calls, and voice commands and some web surfing. 8+ hours later I'm still at 60+% battery life.

The phone comes default with GPS on. Turn that off unless you're using it. That will kill phone batteries regardless of the phone. Also, using the screen brightness widget, turn the brightness down from full-blast. It doesn't make that much difference, doesn't look dark, and is completely fine.

I'm coming from three separate BlackBerry's, and this battery, while not like the superstar that the Bold 9700 is, is quite sufficient for day to day use.

I think there is some user error going on here.

The choice is yours to make. I knew full well through research that the htc batteries had a bad rep. Held out for two months to get this phone regardless(came over from the Storm). I don't regret the decision one ioata. Took the phone off the charger at 9am and have been playing with it ever since. it's 6:20pm as i type. One hour of Pandora, one hour of Angry birds and the rest of the time has been spent digging around trying to become aquainted with my new beast as well as text messaging here and there. Right now i sit at 41%. I can live with that!

Oh, and it's a friggin' sweet phone. The voice command integration is absolutely awesome. You won't be let down. I say get it.

Hey, how do you see the exact battery level? I can't find that setting. Thanks.

Lets just say this is the sweetest phone I've ever had. Everything I expected and more. On the other hand though, its hard to make a choice 2 months out. Just wait until your upgrade, see what else is out at the time and make your choice then. Although I doubt the Bionic will hardly be any better despite it being a dual core.

There is no way to get an accurate reading on the batter after a day. You have to do at least 5 full cycles before you have a good representation. I found that to be he case with my droid incredible. If the battery isn't fulfilling your need, there will certainly be an extended battery available very soon, if not already. I love it and wouldn't tarde it for anything out there.

I'm pretty sure BMX said that this phones tweaked as best as possible so I wouldnt count on firmware saving the day..

Allen an update. I'm at almost eleven hours now and I'm still at 54% battery life still. I don't leave my gps on and my screen is it about 40 percent brightness. Don't sweat the battery.

Personally, I would rather have this phone even with the bad battery, than a Bionic.

4.3" screen > 4" screen
HTC Sense 2.0 > MotoBlur

Plus, it's a better looking device. Well, at least in comparison to the Bionic's brother in the Atrix 4G.

Plus, if it the battery is an issue you can always either buy an extended battery.. or if you don't want to deal with the added bulk, just buy an extra normal battery, and always keep one fully charged.

Pulled the phone off charger at 730am. Used it moderately all day with No charging all day. I still have 20% battery left now. by far better than my Dinc. I am on 3g and keep display at 25% and keep gps, blue tooth, off unless I am using them. I am happy with battery so far.
